Jinpa, like a burden too heavy to bear, it is said. In the tantra of the sharp-beaked Vajra Rakshasa, it says: Because the yogi abides in the path of emptiness, it is similar to the deluded path of the tirthikas. The beautiful adornment of the Buddha's body, if I desire it, I will become a Buddha. The wisdom-bodied one is without impurity. So it is said. All of these are, in view, continuous yoga, merely differences in the way of viewing emptiness, therefore they are spoken of as one. Other than emptiness, to view continuous yoga as substantial, that is, to grasp onto something that is truly existent, and to cling to the distinctions of mind and awareness in various ways, presuming it to be clear and distinct, and continuously observing it, then one will fall into the seventeen abodes of the form realm, or based on the unchanging nature of reality, this clinging to permanence arises in the Samkhya and other tirthikas, therefore it is close to falling into becoming a material self. Also, there, there is a place for confusion with the self-luminous nature of the mind's alaya consciousness, as it is said: The self-mind without conception, and the self-awareness without defilement, are similar, similar, easy to confuse. The alaya is the root of the mind, and self-awareness is the root of the object, are similar, similar, easy to confuse. So it is said, and to consider the alaya as the dharmakaya is a mistake I have made. As it is said in the All-Knowing Heart Essence. In the Gathering of the Intentions of All Buddhas, it says: The tirthikas' view of permanence, from the unchanging substance of the ground, through discrimination, they see colors and shapes, they practice the path of mistaken imputation. So it is said. This is also the barb of emptiness, form, and sign-clinging, because the self-radiance of the wisdom of emptiness, the power of awareness, grasping the appearance of the mind's alaya consciousness as awareness, because one does not understand its true essence, therefore one clings to the nature of reality as substantial, therefore even if one makes the mind of grasping and clinging the path, one will not be liberated from samsara, like grasping the snot of a dakini. As it is said in the Heap of Jewels: Without understanding the essence of the heart, to explain the self-radiance of awareness, is like grasping the snot of a dakini. So it is said. Like this, abiding in the state of mind, no matter how one abides, one will fall into the aspect of mundane worldly meditation, therefore one will not transcend samsara, and one will not be close to the meaning of the nature of reality through prior familiarity, as it is said: Through meditating on dhyana, one does not see the meaning of the nature of reality. And so on, it is said.

Furthermore, if one continuously engages in view, regarding the luminous form of emptiness, which is the self-appearance without inherent existence in the Lugü lineage, all appearances and mind both internally and externally, and the essence of self-arisen wisdom, the constant and enduring object of taming beings, and the mind consciousness that arises in one's own mindstream, being conceited with the wisdom of compassion that tames, and being bound by pure conduct of view while observing the discriminating consciousness of acceptance and rejection, then it is a cover of appearance, existence, and clinging to reality. Thus, one will stray into the realm of the six realms of samsara. For that reason, in the "Pearl Rosary" it says, reciting without wisdom; in the "Six Spaces" it says, without knowing the self-abiding of the arising force, fixing appearance as one true thing is like a tree without life; in the "Mirror of the Mind of Kunsang" it says, considering appearance as Dharmakaya is an obscuration for me. These are also as stated in the "Adornment of Fine Jewels": In the yoga of continuous view, there are three kinds of straying: If one looks at emptiness, one will stray into the four formless realms; if one looks at things themselves, one will stray into the seventeen realms of the form realm and matter itself; if one strongly views the appearance of the Lugü lineage as permanent, one will be bound by great attachment and stray into the realm of the six realms. This is its meaning. Such straying, obscurations, and confusions of view are also obscurations from the aspect of not realizing the nature of view without meditation. In the "Tantra of Averting the War of the Asuras" it says: Obscuration, obscuration, what is called obscuration is the obscuration of ignorance and non-realization. Deviating from the correct path, thinking that one can realize through view and meditation is straying. In the "Wisdom Lama" it says: straying from the correct meaning. It is like that. With desire, alternately taking up the two truths and engaging in calculation is similar to the view of the logicians, thus it is confused and mistaken. Therefore, one deviates to other directions. In the "Six Spaces" it says: Similar, similar, confused, confused. Thus, the essence of straying, losing, mistaking, and obscuring is explained by connecting the general and the specific. Regarding the way of establishing the three, straying, obscuration, and confusion, in the "Bright Razor" it also says: Because one desires the meaning without desire, one enters the path of great desire, that is called straying. For the nature free from imputation and depreciation, the realization expressed in words is an obscuration. Not cutting off the imputation of words is confusion.
