Thus it was said. This is the tenth chapter, "Showing the Mudras of the Terrifiers," from the Sutra called "The Great King of Tantras, the Awesome Wisdom Thunderbolt Wheel." Then, the Bhagavan, Lord of Secrets, entered into the Samadhi of continuous recitation and practice. Having entered, he also extracted from the Vajra of body, speech, and mind of these profound mandalas of recitation and practice. Although the limbs of recitation and practice are countless, for the sake of yogis entering into all the mandalas, they are briefly explained as four aspects. The first is said to be recitation, the second is near recitation, the third is called practice, and the fourth is called great practice. One must first know the distinctions, and then begin the activities. One must know the distinctions of recitation and practice, and abiding in them is very important. If one does not know them and does not abide in them, even if one practices, it will not be accomplished, and even if one does the activities, it will become meaningless. Therefore, one should do it with diligence. By well cultivating the Samadhi of recitation, one must know the Bodhicitta. By abiding in near recitation, contemplate oneself as the Great Mudra. That is also the Lord of Secret Mantras, the arising of the consort and the encourager, the Victorious One says is practice. From the union of skillful means and wisdom, the yoga of one's own deity is spoken of. Whatever becomes the accomplishment of the Vajra, is called great practice. The so-called Bodhicitta is also the mind of supreme meaning, since all phenomena are unreal, therefore it should be known by one's own mind, it is said to be the vow of recitation. The Great Mudra of oneself is, in the attire of the Lord of Mantras, diligently contemplate the Samadhi. Since everything is the nature of the deity, oneself is the characteristic of the deity, knowing to be endowed with the four mudras, is the vow of near recitation. The support for the arising of the consort and the encourager is the Wisdom Mother, the auspicious secret treasure endowed with characteristics, Bhaga (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, meaning: vulva) is the secret lotus, is the palace of the Victorious Ones, is the place where the Buddhas of the past appeared, is the trace of the Buddhas who come later, thus it is the support where the Buddhas dwell. Thus it appears to the yogi, to the unawakened it is the path of Samsara. Practice etc.
