All sentient beings in the world, all the bases for firm growth and creation, are known as the earth element. Because they appear in the unchanging realm, they are the basis for producing everything, and are the nature of the Vajra realm's richness. All the characteristics of separation, gathering, and moisture of all container and content sentient beings are known as the water element. Because they appear in the realm of universal gathering, they are the universal gathering of great collections of qualities, and are the nature of the Jewel realm's richness. All the nature of clarity and warmth of all container and content sentient beings are known as the fire element. Because they appear in the realm of clear appearance, they are the nature of clear, warm burning, and are the nature of the Lotus realm's richness. All the lightness, movement, lifting, and motion of all container and content sentient beings are known as the wind element. Because they appear in the realm of great movement, they are the nature of unobstructed power and movement, and are the nature of the Karma realm's richness. Thus it is said. Here, the four consciousnesses are said to be the nature of the four Bodhisattvas. All sentient beings in the three realms, all their use of color and shape, are known as eye consciousness.
