Lord of Lanka, impurity is like this: agreeing with others, disagreeing, agreeing and disagreeing with everything, closely associating with others' examples, being unknown, and being uncertain. Lord of Lanka, regarding those five characteristics of complete purity, if not by valid cognition, observing in a way that agrees with others, and regarding the characteristics of conditioned phenomena such as impermanence as permanent, and clinging to self and so on as other, viewing with the four inverted views, observing in a way that agrees with the characteristics of the unconditioned, this is agreement. Valid cognition disagreeing with others, and the characteristic of the object disagreeing with others, this is disagreement. "Everything is the activity of the mind," this is agreeing with everything. Disagreement with one disagreement, so that they disagree with each other, this is disagreement. Lord of Lanka, furthermore, when associating agreement with examples, because there is agreement, it is uncertain, this is being unknown. When associating disagreement with examples, because there is agreement, it is uncertain, this is also being unknown. Because it is unknown, what is inferred by it is impure. What is impure by nature is uncertain. Lord of Lanka, those are what are to be established. Lord of Lanka, what is the nature of dharma? It is the unconditioned nature itself. Lord of Lanka, by what is it gathered, and by what is it expanded? It is by expanding that everything is gathered, distinguishing by one difference, thereby reaching the ultimate. Lord of Lanka, the object of focus is clinging. Aspect is distinction. Enlightenment is nature. What is abandoned and what is attained is the result. What is awakened and what is spoken of is designation. What is incompatible with whose side is interruption. What is diligently applied to whose side is agreement. Placing what is incompatible with whom under their power is fault. Placing what is compatible with whom under their power is virtue. Lord of Lanka, those are the limbs of characteristics, those six limbs are the key to opening. What is the gate that leads by practice? It is opened by it, and the meaning therein is definitely explained. Lord of Lanka, what are the four sutras therein? They are: the sutra of indirect meaning, the sutra of hidden meaning, the sutra of conforming entry and union, and the sutra of definitive meaning. Lord of Lanka, therein

Regarding the sutras with other intentions, it is like this: For the Lord of Lanka who has thoughts about nature, time, meaning, and place, the nature is like this: For those who perceive differences, in order to dispel the clinging to such discriminations, one contemplates nature, affirming definitively that 'it is just this.' Lord of Lanka, time is like this: In order to generate joy in those who are lazy, one contemplates the infallibility of cause and effect, showing that 'with just this, it will quickly change.' Lord of Lanka, meaning is like this: 'Whoever is arrogant towards what, in order to dispel that darkness, whoever has not attained the path of seeing, thinks that they have not seen that,' one contemplates this. 'These cannot be understood unless spoken by the inconceivable holy ones.' Lord of Lanka, contemplating place is like this: For those who think that just one aspect is sufficient, in order to generate wisdom, one arranges all aspects and praises them completely, thinking that one aspect is not sufficient. This is criticizing the previously accustomed aspect. Lord of Lanka, the sutras of skillful means are like this: combination, separation, subjugation, and deception. Lord of Lanka, combination is like this: For those who are afraid and frightened, striving to give up, and those who are manifestly attached, those who do not engage in anything, in order to make them definitely enter into what meaning, one contemplates the existence of the fruits of what and what, and that all are without inherent nature, in order to instill the concepts that 'everything exists' and 'emptiness.' Lord of Lanka, separation is like this: According to what and what one is interested in, one explains that everything is imputed, without substance, and explains the dependent arising of others, and explains the perfectly accomplished, unchanging, and non-inverted three thoughts, in order to show these three. Lord of Lanka, subjugation is like this: In order to subjugate by showing the perfect fame and perfect enjoyment, one contemplates taming through the opponent, in order to show the vast aspects. Lord of Lanka, deception is like this: In order to definitely transform by concealing wrong concepts, one contemplates the unchanging meaning, because of other causes.
