The certainty of the ground has been attained. What is it? The suchness of mind is the gate of perfect purity. It is the gate of the appearance of phenomena. It is the realm of phenomena. It is the great book of phenomena. It is the great samadhi of the stream of phenomena. O Lord of Lanka, it is also like this: Whoever, through the suchness of mind, obtains the secret essence, even if not explained by guiding words, a hundred thousand dharmas will arise in the mind, everything will be clearly manifested in the gate of speech, and the reason for the certainty of meaning can be expressed in words, it is the one who has obtained the samadhi of the stream of phenomena. O Lord of Lanka, in this way, the suchness of mind is the great Bodhi, and the great Bodhi is Vajrasattva. This is also the nectar of all Buddhas, like this: If there is no water of Bodhicitta, the Victorious Ones will also become dry. This river of Bodhicitta moistens the previously held extremes and dryness. The nature of mind is emptiness, therefore everything that arises from it is empty. Because it is emptiness, even Bodhi is, emptiness is its essence. The great water of self-arisen wisdom, from the center of the wondrous ocean, the water of Bodhi nectar arises, making all the Victorious Ones cool. This is the secret essence, the suchness of Vajrasattva, the nature of certainty, praised as supreme by all the Victorious Ones. Therefore, O Lord of Lanka, knowing the suchness of mind is the great meaning of the land. When the Lord of Secrets spoke thus, everything became the suchness of Vajrasattva, becoming the path of liberation. In the great sutra that gathers the intentions of all Buddhas, the ninth chapter showing the suchness of Vajrasattva. Then the Lord of Lanka again asked the Lord of Secrets: O Lord of Secrets, the nature of secret mantra, the suchness of mind, whose field of activity is it? He replied: O Lord of Lanka, that is the field of activity of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, not of those who abide on the ground and above the ground. Why is that? Because it is difficult to examine, difficult to show, and free from the terms of speech.

Furthermore, the Lord of Lanka asked: "O Lord of Secrets, the suchness of mind, the essence of secret mantras, if it is not the realm of activity of the noble ones alone, and is not shared with others, then, when those yogis who practice observe the suchness of mind and search everywhere in the continuum of mind, at that time, they do not see the inner mind, nor do they see the outer mind, nor do they see the inner and outer minds. They do not see the mind in the aggregates, nor do they see it in the elements, nor do they see it in the sense bases. Because they do not see the mind, and when they look to see where this mind comes from, they think like this: Wherever there is an object of focus, the mind arises. And they think like this: Is that object of focus something other? Is the mind something other? Is the object of focus the mind itself? Is the mind the object of focus itself? If the object of focus is something other, and the mind is also something other, then the suchness is not one, but becomes two. But if it is one, then it is not reasonable for the mind to follow and observe the mind with the mind, and for the mind to see the mind. Just as, for example, a sword cannot cut itself, and the tip of a finger cannot touch itself, so the mind cannot focus on the mind. When one observes in this way, one sees like this: That which is unattached, the mind has no dwelling place, no support, it is not annihilation, it is not permanent, it is not accumulated, it does not arise from a cause, it is not produced by conditions, it is not from that, it is not from another, it is not itself, it is not other, it has no lineage, it has no cause, it is not scattered, it is not apparent, its essence is emptiness, and it is seen as it is. True, unmoving, solitary, nothing at all is seen, nothing is completely seen, it does not discriminate, it does not completely discriminate, it does not waver, it does not think, it does not scatter, the mind has no form, and whatever arises also has no form, and because whatever has no form, enlightenment also has no form. The nature of mind is enlightenment. The nature of enlightenment is all phenomena. The nature of all phenomena is suchness. This mind is so swift, extremely swift, not abiding, flowing, like a monkey, like the wind, like a mirage, like a stream of water, like a flame, like a bodily image, going far away, not wavering anywhere, returning again, in the realm of...
