Should be done. All should be gathered. Should be abandoned in La. Should be divided the land. Should be gained experience. Should be reduced labor. Should be made into one tantra. O Lord of Lanka, know that the basis of all dharmas is the samaya. The abiding of samaya is as follows: That which is to be protected, without protection, is the sacred samaya of dharmata. Since all are sacred in nature, one should not contradict anything. Whoever possesses this sacred samaya, is the place of the sacred vidyadhara. Towards the objects to be protected, without accumulation of deceit and deception, is the sacred nature itself. In this profound, vast, and sacred samaya, the discipline proclaimed in this way, and all the activities of thought, should all be purified by guarding the samaya here. This samaya is very wondrous, because it is not common to all. For all small intentions, the boundaries of protection should be taken. The Great Vehicle completely secret, for those who have become unsuitable vessels, should be protected by concealing methods of outer, inner, and secret. Whatever vessel is not a place of teaching, the distinctions gathered by the four aspects, the excellent one of the future, having examined with wisdom, is explained for the sake of secrecy. This great secret wish-fulfilling jewel, is not a fault or evil, but for the benefit of those with little wisdom, it is extremely concealed by means of compassion and skillful means. Worldly people and Hinayana, and those attached to wrong views and wrong directions, those without faith, with inferior wisdom, distracted and dull, and those who do not strive, are like darkness. To deviate from this is to break the samaya, to fall from this, the rope of bodhi is cut from the root, the sprout of the mind is burned at the root, and the head is plunged into the swamp of evil destinies. Although the meanings of secrets are spoken in words, this hidden secret is not known. To cunning, self-righteous friends, one should especially speak of what should be kept secret. In those four limbs, although the sound is heard, it is meaningless, and experience is not taken. What cannot be entrusted to whom, is without essence and leaks into samsara. Although the three sacred treasuries of view, samaya, and conduct are spoken in words, there is no limit to attachment, and it does not become a place of abiding. Afflicted by deceit, jealousy, and stinginess, clinging to the uncreated dharma, and without that nature in it, saying inferior words to the yogi, is the failure of the sacred one and falling into samsara. Reasoning with logic, measuring with measure, quoting special words, flattering with the mouth, slandering with a double tongue, cursing and being ignorant of whom, is a samaya-breaker, acting only for the sake of pride in one lifetime.

Those who are deceitful and cunning, Delight in flattering words for the sake of material gain. Those who are arrogant, self-righteous, and pretentious, With heretical speech and poison, will ultimately fall. For such a failed and wicked vessel, The great secret is only this: Because it is profound and difficult to fathom, Even if taught, it becomes a place of failure and downfall. Therefore, it should not be taught. If it is taught, Whoever speaks and listens to it, Will be burned, destroying both upon sight. To the yogi who is wise, clear, and meaningful, Those who do not understand yoga, Out of arrogance and jealousy, Whatever thoughts they generate, For as many eons as there are, They will experience unbearable consequences. If they willingly follow, They must enter prison for that many eons. Even the wise and meaningful, If they think like the former, They too will take the path of evil, And the wise cannot save them. To the holy yogi who acts virtuously, Disturbing them with words like weapons, Spreading false accusations, slander, and evil speech, They will fall into the vajra of hell. The ripening of karma from that, Will become exactly as it is. The yogi with little merit and deficient wisdom, Whose nature is to have deteriorated roots and defects, Possessing evil causes, anger, and violence, Performs unbearable and subtle actions. Those who do not know their own nature, With the nature of children and weak minds, With very low views, Rely on pretenders. Those who possess the ultimate holiness, Whose conduct of love is always patient, Thus, they seek auspicious meanings, Those who have no desire for that. While acting like monkeys with their vows, Those who have obtained the essence of enlightenment, Will never become Buddhas. I have never seen them truly arise. The yogi who has become a son of the Victorious Ones, To the wise one who shows the path and removes faults, Some, out of arrogance, Abandon them and kill them. That is the abyss of samsara, And they will never be liberated. The ignorant and foolish yogi, Who is certain to go to the true holy ones, Does not follow them, But those who are attached to material desires, Follow them and desire them, That is the path of the heretics. The view of yoga and the divisions of enlightenment, Do not give rise to the thought of cutting off the thread. Material desires and The divisions of deceit and pretense, What small things do they do?
