Its nature, as explained, is in that itself. Hail and so forth, those things, Seem to be those themselves because of sameness. Those that constantly arise, They are also of that nature. From milk, water, and seeds, It is different, therefore it is other. That nature, from its continuum, That also appears in that way. Whatever those that abide are, Arising there is of that nature. Quick ripening and seasonal ripening are not two, It is the size, increase, and decrease of the seed. By clouds, hail, And darkness, Like an object unseen, obscured. By the dense continuum of that darkness, That which is to be seen is not seen. In the first two and the last, Clarity, cessation, and difference appear. Because that nature goes to all, One takes various differences. That nature, from skill, enters the six, Again entering, it also arises from that nature. Like a rain continuum, like a mirage. By the power of eye disease, in those objects, It is not different, only its own nature. Because what and this one are mixed, Illusory arts separate those and take them. Those that arise from that nature separate those, Although gathering here, they are not seen, By whose power do different appearances arise? From that, that arises, from that nature, Likewise, those arise. The smell of stench, the arising of smell, whose smell? What is absent, to what is there attachment? Not different, not one, in that nature, That nature to another, that continuum is different. Whose own nature is one, That also changes by place and time. In whom the habits are completely pure, Like the first, all is clear. Whose continuum is clear, all-pervading, vast, Is called the pure Middle Way nature. Those who hold onto the realm of darkness, Darkness also arises in that nature. The nature and essence of darkness, And the characteristics, branches, roots, Place, obscuration, distinct dharmas, Where, by what, why, what? Those should definitely be well distinguished. Those lords of Lanka are called the Sutra of the Basis, referring to the expansion of actions of those who dwell in the realm of darkness, and speaking of the dharmas of darkness. What is the sutra that focuses on that lord of Lanka? It is like this: The form realm, that which holds it, is of one place. That which holds it, that nature, looks at it. That which holds it, that which makes it, is dark. Holding to a direction, without direction, one with form. Uncertain, generally going, not focusing on two. Without variety, it holds to its own nature. Without stain, without holding, without similarity to others. That enters without support, without difference.

In the three times, there is no grasping of that. Because of grasping that, there is attachment to form and name. Lord of Lanka, what is the sutra that appears to him? Like this: The desire realm enters that, that follows the place. It is the third one, those are, that itself is the basis of arising, that immediately, five desires and two dharmas. All actions are always one with the three families and hold the meeting family. That enters, seeks, cuts, and bestows. Unobstructed, wherever it constantly pervades and enters. The three times and three occasions have no entry. Various things are bestowed upon that itself. That also has two kinds of entry: the five and the common are different. Object consciousness and characteristic consciousness, time consciousness and, the momentary stream consciousness, and entering into action, and fully experiencing the fruit of what. Six, two, five, three, twelve, one, all that enters is the doer. Lord of Lanka, like this: The lord of the secret supreme, when the secret supreme is pleased, contemplating this realm, he extensively explained. First, seven kinds of discrimination: with characteristics and without characteristics, entering and seeking by one's own nature, separately discriminating and with afflictions, that is not discrimination. Second, there are three kinds of close mind: family-born, non-family-born, and neither. Third, the cause of delusion, the cause of courage, whatever arises here, changes, depends, changes. The senses, arising, changing, and consciousness, that and similar, arising similar, the weak and the unaccustomed, the sharp and the excessive. Fourth, being absent-minded, having a troubled heart, whatever is unbalanced, fear, becoming essential, and being deceived by others. Fifth, disease enters, weakening, fatigue, intensity, darkness, commitment, habit, and change due to other causes. Five, two, the first arises outward, cause and wherever awakening, whatever That is completely entangled by delusion, the planets and commitment cause that to be destroyed, and change due to other causes. One moment of cessation and that awakening, that also enters there, that itself is. Second, entering into the two doers, thinking "this is it" as a preliminary. Seventh, generating and combining effort and exertion, all the elements cause movement. Third, attachment and separation, attachment is weary of the place of objects, separation and interruption by others, doing by proper attention. Fourth, diminished by attachment, delusion.
