And the first attainment, The signs are arising and stability, And the arising and completion of miracles, Wherever all awareness is clear, There, all meanings are complete. For example, when darkness clears, Light arises and the sky, Everything is seen and all is clear, Therefore, by its distinction, Wherever the darkness of attachment is dispelled, Like the wind sweeping away clouds, With the yoga of a moment, That realm of darkness will be swept away. Just as a lamp dispels darkness, That itself becomes like light, If one recognizes that in an instant, Then the darkness of past attachments is cleared. What are those who realize? That itself opens its door, Likewise, with the eye and those who possess it, Seeing, hearing, and words are combined into four chapters. Since it is a wise one, look at that, If one does not possess that eye, Then with endless words, No matter what one says about it, One cannot distinguish between definite and indefinite targets. Those who blindly follow words are wild and foolish, They are not the ground and path of learning. Even if one speaks hundreds of thousands of words, One should not speak to others. If someone speaks anything, A liar is a vajra thief of the teachings. A vajra without liberation will fall, Those who are deceitful and pretentious, Before the power of definite wisdom arises, If they are led by words and letters, And speak of the path in an indefinite way, Then it is like taking the lives of all beings, Speaking of indefinite dharma is heavier than that. Therefore, in the equality of extremes and center, Wherever the demon enters at once, The duration of yoga practice, whether long or short, and Whether there is any remainder or not, and When the nature of equality is not exhausted, If one leaves it as it is in that, Then that itself appears immediately. If one does not move from that as it is, Then it does not go to the city of appearances. If one is not attached to that in that way, How can one go to a place without appearances? Because that itself has become manifest, Those are not in a peaceful place. If one can determine the extremes of existence and non-existence, That itself is the yoga that transcends extremes. Wherever this is The supreme certainty, Whoever makes such vows, In whom there is no hope or fear, It will surely appear as confusion and obscuration. Why is it that by separating the center and the edge, When there is a center, the edge also arises naturally. When there is no center, the edge also naturally does not exist, Separating the center and the edge is within. Being separate from the edge and the center is just that, Not abiding, not taking, not separating, Being nothing, without seeing or hearing, Anything

I am free from discrimination and action, free from the terms of non-existence and existence. The nature of reality, which is beyond thought, rests in suchness that is beyond thought. All inconceivable phenomena are none other than suchness that is without thought. Earth and liberation, and so on, the aspect of the white, pure dharmakāya enlightenment, all are inconceivable, becoming a great obscuration of delusion. The great austerity that is difficult to transcend is only uncontrived suchness. Immeasurable victors are difficult to transcend. Whoever grasps at formlessness is deluded. This vast, pervasive ground is established as the nature of being unapproached from the very beginning. There is nothing that is not understood in this ground. Whoever establishes a ground here, whoever approaches it is deluded. Likewise, that awareness arises primordially. Whoever desires differences to arise in sequence, whoever is here is only ignorant. One is definitely liberated from that which is self-arisen. For one who has no object of thought, the yogi of great equanimity, just as it is, enters a deluded place by abandoning the body in solitude and disciplining the mind. In that very great liberation of all, while being certain that there is no bondage or liberation, whoever is bound here by realizing austerity is straying from the very nature of great liberation. The very nature of being uncontrived from the very beginning, wherever it abides, that is just that. Where is there any delusion in that? Delusion and obscuration are also just that. Having spoken thus, the bodhisattvas of inferior bodies, such as the lord of Lanka, were completely liberated from whatever bondage they had, and the doubt of hope and effort was cut off. From the Great Sutra, the Gathering of the Intentions of All Buddhas, the chapter on Showing the Mirror of All Dharmas, the Fifty-fourth. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva, the Lord of Lanka, completely inquired of the Lord of Secrets, asking what the root of what is. "O Lord of Secrets, what is the root of all dharmas? How can it be fully understood?" Having asked thus, the Lord of Secrets said: "O Lord of Lanka, this excellent question that you ask is very good! Very, very good! What is called the root of all dharmas is the root of bodhicitta. It should be fully understood in this way: it should be understood as the nature of the mind of all Buddhas and the nature of the mind of all sentient beings. It appears as both darkness and light. O Lord of Lanka, likewise, the Blessed One
