Color and sound. When people see and hear with a joyful mind, At that time, they become very close. Recognizing the body as pure and without defilement, Endowed with the vows of purification and discipline. For one, two, or three days, Abstaining from food and abiding in fasting. After those days have passed, One should engage in practice for one's own benefit. Having heard these words, Daungzang asked again: "You said before that food is the master of people, Deserving of offerings, Why do you say to practice unbearable fasting For the sake of purifying the body?" The Sugata who has reached the end of existence, Why did he say to eat the oiled wooden wheel? Having heard Daungzang's words, Vajradhara, Spoke with a voice as deep as a dragon's roar: "Only son, the Sugatas never said here That one should fast to purify the body. This body is impure, skin, flesh, blood, bones, lungs, intestines, spleen, liver, dakini, fat, bile, phlegm, pus, dirt, urine, mucus, body hair, hair, and bones, eyes and ears, nose and mouth, anus, genitals, and the nine orifices, Various impure substances flow from wounds, A constant stream of discharge always arises. Thus, all the limbs are gathered together, Endowed with earth, water, fire, wind, and space. As it is, the human body follows karma, Abiding in a form that possesses everything. Fasting is said to be for the purpose of exhausting feces, urine, mucus, saliva, and phlegm. When impurities are exhausted, the human body is purified, Then one can happily engage in practice for one's own benefit. Even if tormented by desire, For all these limbs of the body, Manifesting single-pointed mindfulness, Individually examine each with the eye of wisdom. Thus, after definitely examining with desire, The attachment to body and life that arises, Desire is completely pacified from its root, Like the sun completely dispelling darkness. Through that benefit, approaching the secret mantra, Closely examining one's own body, On the eighth or fourteenth of the waxing moon, Or on the fifteenth, recite. In order to establish the deity in the mouth, Anoint with a mixture of earth and heavy substances. With faith, offer garlands to all the Sugatas, Offer divine food, flowers, incense, and lamps. Then, Vajradhara and the treasurer.
