It is seen. Whichever vow is taken, whether it be that of a king or a vidyādhara, one must ultimately fast for three days. Thus concludes the ritual of the noble Avalokiteśvara. Then, the Blessed One spoke to Vajrapāṇi, saying: "Vajrapāṇi, I will bestow here the extensive secret mantra ritual by which the vajra family and extensive rituals, as well as other great accomplishments, will be achieved. Therefore, in all extensive rituals, this one alone should be applied. Vajrapāṇi, merely remembering this, all the deities of knowledge will become manifest." The painter should, on a canvas that has not been spoiled by taking vows of fasting and purification, with unmixed colors, paint a golden-colored image of the Buddha teaching the Dharma. To his right, paint the noble Vajrapāṇi, blue-black in color, adorned with all ornaments, listening to the Dharma. To the left of the Tathāgata, paint the noble Avalokiteśvara, white as a lotus stalk, with a topknot of hair and a diadem, wearing a tiger skin lower garment, holding a yak tail fan in his hand. Then, for half a month, one should drink milk porridge as food and recite the vidyā. Then, in front of fourteen butter lamps, one should fast for one day and one night, make extensive offerings to the image, and recite the vidyā a hundred thousand times. Light rays will emanate from the right shoulder of the Tathāgata, and Vajrapāṇi will be accomplished at night. Either one becomes a king or a vidyādhara; these two sacred fruits will be bestowed. If one becomes a king, one will become the universal monarch of the vidyādharas. If one becomes a vidyādhara, one will become the master of sixty thousand vidyādharas, possessing a complexion like the rising sun, and a body like that of a sixteen-year-old youth. One will live for forty thousand years.
