They dwell in the midst of cloud clusters, Like the sound of cloud clusters, Playing together with cloud clusters, Rejoicing together with cloud clusters. Dwelling in the water within the ocean, Following the power of the water flow, They flow together with the rivers of the ocean. In the vast space of darkness, Together with the sounds of the ocean, When the great ocean churns, They always churn as well. When the spring season arrives, Those demons in all the trees, Dwell in the form of cuckoos and bees. On the banks of the great rivers, In the islands and fortresses, In the ponds filled with aquatic plants, They dwell. In the delightful streams of water, In the places where water springs forth, In various kinds of wells, In mountains and waters, In the vast forest caves filled with snakes, They transform into the form of snakes, Rejoicing together with snakes. In the great, unsightly trees, Among the numerous spirits, In empty houses and empty lands, In places filled with cattle, In the treasuries of kings, In lotuses and other places, In the delightful places where elephants dwell, In the stables of horses, And in other cities and other places, They dwell in marketplaces. Abiding therein. The explanation of sixty-four spirits, Swift as thought, traveling to all desires, That form capable of transforming into all desires, All freely frolic. With the assembly of goddess mothers and six spirits, Brahma protects, That is, the planets in space, even the sun, Are said to be the chief of the spirits. Between the emaciating and the Rakshasas, The fortress-possessing mother and the two Nagas, The ten Rakshasas and the goddess, The jewel neck is the intermediate. Between the urn-bellied and the pretas, With the forgetting and the putrid, The splendor-stealing, likewise the maddening, All are said to be the lowest of the spirits. Like the distinctions of those, Having manifestly offered the mandala, Manifestly to be made joyful, Praise and offerings should also be made. The deity of the powerful Vajradhara, The king of gods, the lord of spirits, To the assembly of spirits in the east, Having made offerings, I prostrate. The deity of fire, who enjoys the burnt offerings, The king of elementals, the lord of spirits, To the assembly of spirits in the southeast, Having made offerings, I prostrate.
