Homage. Namo Arya Avalokiteshvaraya Bodhisattvaya, Mahasattvaya, Mahakarunikaya Siddhyantu Me, Mantra Padani Svaha. Om Hrih Trailokya Vijaya, Amogha Pasha, Apratihate Hrih Ha Hum Phat Svaha. Then, after the noble Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva spoke this essence, the great earth shook in six ways. It shook greatly. It trembled. It roared. From the sky, a rain of flowers mixed with jewels visibly fell. All the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the ten directions rejoiced. All the demons and other heretics were terrified, and their hair stood on end. All those retinues each attained their respective fruits, attaining the fruit of stream-enterer, once-returner, non-returner, and Arhat. Some attained the first bhumi. Some attained the second bhumi. Some attained the third bhumi. Some attained the fourth bhumi. Some from the fifth bhumi up to some attaining the tenth bhumi. Those beings who generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment were also immeasurable. Then, the Great Brahma rose from his seat, properly arranged his garments, and with a respectful mind, folded his palms and said this to the noble Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva: "Wonderful! Wonderful! Well done! Well done! In the past, I also gathered in the retinues of countless Tathagatas, and in those retinues I also obtained various Dharma categories and dharani gates, but I have not heard this great, unobstructed Dharani-mantra of the nature of great compassion. Now, please definitely explain the body, signs, rituals, and characteristics of the Bodhisattva's great deeds. I and the other great retinues wish to hear and speak about it." Then, the noble Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva said this to the Great Brahma: "Wonderful! You, with skillful means, have asked this question for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings. Now listen, and I will briefly explain it to you." Then, the noble Avalokiteshvara

The Lord said thus: This is the mind of great compassion. This is the mind of equality and equanimity. This is the mind of non-fabrication. This is the mind of non-attachment and non-clinging. This is the mind that views emptiness. This is the mind of respect and reverence. This is the mind of non-disturbance and faultlessness. This is the mind of unsurpassed Bodhi. Those minds and so on are the characteristics and ways of this essence, and should be done accordingly. Thus, one should practice in this way. One should meditate. The Great Brahma said thus: We and our retinue have not known the ways and characteristics of this essence until now. From now on, we will accept it. We will not abandon it. The noble Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara said to them: Any son or daughter of a noble family who recites and holds this essence will generate the vast mind of a great Bodhisattva. Having made such a vow, I shall protect the bodies of all sentient beings. One should eat food at the proper times and be endowed with discipline. One should generate a mind of equanimity towards all sentient beings. One should constantly and continuously recite this secret mantra. One should abide in purity. One should bathe well. One should wear clean clothes and make offerings with divine banners, lamps, incense, flowers, tormas, and so on. One should hold the mind in one-pointedness. One should not investigate what is not true, thus one should speak. Thus, one should hold it. Moreover, Bodhisattva Sunlight, Bodhisattva Moonlight, and many divine sages will also go there, bestowing power and accomplishments. At that time, I will also look upon that practitioner with a thousand eyes. I will conceal and protect with a thousand hands. One will also be able to understand and grasp the world's scriptures and letters. One will also be able to control the teachings of all other heretics and will surely realize the Vedas. Whoever recites and holds this secret mantra will be able to
