From the tantra called "The King of Tantras, the Lotus Net," this is the eighth chapter, concerning the application of mantras. Then, from the mandala of the assembly, a bodhisattva mahasattva named "Essence of the Sun," together with a gathering of attendants, with great offerings and praises, made offerings to the Bhagavan. After circumambulating many times, prostrating and offering secret praises, he sat to one side. Kneeling and joining his palms, he requested thus: Protector, king of all virtues, principal source of wondrous wisdom, sun rising over the great path of liberation, guide, ocean, I prostrate to you. Body with endless marks and signs, vast splendor pervading the sky, possessor of the vast sky of intelligence, I prostrate to the secret of your body. Innumerable Brahma sounds, inconceivable, filling the expanse of the vast sky, arising from immeasurable twelve branches, I prostrate to the secret of your speech. Doors of samadhi, liberation, and contemplation, through inconceivable thought, with inconceivable wisdom, I prostrate to your compassionate heart. Lamp that severs the bonds of beings' afflictions, victorious over the battlefield of ignorance, dispelling the net of all conceptualizations, please explain it today. Children fall into the pit of darkness, hearers are frightened by the assembly of desire, solitary realizers possess secret patience, bodhisattvas are terrified by bonds. To the lord of afflictions, through the union of wisdom and compassion, the supreme methods for completely abandoning habitual tendencies, please explain many. Then, the Bhagavan, the great hero, having expanded rays in the ten directions, with a great Brahma-like voice, melodious, completely filling the great expanse of space, connected with wisdom and compassion, the various rituals of union, having made this into a condensed meaning, now, Essence of the Sun, listen well. Excellent, great bodhisattva, possessor of glory, you are excellent. With one-pointed devotion and respect, listen well with your mind, hold it in your memory. In a pleasant and comfortable place, from a very joyful ground, make a square and level mandala. The square mandala possesses four doors and horse-face walls, opening the doors to the east or south. Draw with white, yellow, red, and green colors. In the center, draw an eight-petaled lotus, a white center.
