Benefit! One should govern the country with Dharma, and should not engage in non-Dharma activities. Life should also be given up, and one should not protect evil. In the place of the Thirty-Three, the King of Gods rejoices and says: "In Jambudvipa, my son, is such a king who possesses the Dharma. He proclaims the Dharma to govern the country, perfects good deeds, and settles sentient beings." That king practices good deeds, and the people are therefore delighted. The gods and sons of gods think of filling the heavens with this. He proclaims the Dharma to govern the country, and all the kings are very happy. The King of Gods is extremely devoted, therefore he protects the human king. The sun and moon, as well as the stars, will run well. The wind will also blow on time, and the rain will also fall on time. Like the realms of the gods, all parts of the country will have good harvests. The gods and sons of gods will fill the heavens. Therefore, O king, rather give up my cherished life, than give up the precious Dharma that can bring happiness to the world. One should rely on those who are adorned with virtues and possess the Dharma. One should make one's own people constantly happy, and constantly abandon evil. For the sake of the king's intention, in the king's palace, at that time, the virtuous king fell asleep. In a dream, he heard the virtues of the Buddha. In the dream of the speaker named Jewel, etc., the image of this king of sutras clearly appeared, and he was fully expounding it. That king awoke from his sleep, and his whole body was filled with joy. He happily emerged from the royal palace and went to the excellent place of the Shravaka Sangha. He made offerings to the Shravaka disciples of the Buddhas and asked, 'Among this noble Sangha, who is the Bhikshu with the virtues of Jewel, etc.?' At that time, Jewel, etc., was dwelling in another cave, and he was fully absorbed in this king of sutras, reciting it, and dwelling in peace. That Bhikshu, the speaker Jewel, etc., shone with perfect splendor and glory. He was dwelling in another cave, and at that time, he was pointed out to that king. 'This is the speaker Jewel, etc. He holds the king's profound conduct and constantly proclaims the king of sutras called the Golden Light.' The king prostrated at the feet of Jewel, etc., and King Well-Born spoke thus: 'Please explain the King of the Golden Light Sutra, which is like the full moon.'
