In Tibetan language: The Noble Golden Light, called the King of Excellent Sutras, a Mahāyāna Sutra. Volume 1. I prostrate to all the Buddhas of the past, future, and present, the Bodhisattvas, the Pratyekabuddhas, and the noble Śrāvakas. Thus have I heard. At one time, the Blessed One was dwelling in Rājagṛha, on Vulture Peak Mountain, in a place that was exceedingly pure, the profound realm of Dharma, the sacred realm of the Tathāgatas. He was together with a great Saṅgha of monks, ninety-eight thousand monks, all of whom were great Arhats, exceedingly tamed like elephant kings, their outflows exhausted, without afflictions, their minds exceedingly liberated, their wisdom exceedingly liberated, their tasks completed, their burdens cast off, having attained their own benefit, having completely severed the bonds of existence, having attained the supreme and excellent mastery, abiding in pure discipline, well adorned with skillful means and wisdom, having realized the eight liberations, and having reached the other shore. These were, namely, the venerable Ajñāta Kauṇḍinya, the venerable Aśvajit, the venerable Bhadraka, the venerable Mahānāman, the venerable Subāhu, the venerable Mahākāśyapa, the venerable Uruvilvā-kāśyapa, the venerable Gayā-kāśyapa, the venerable Nadī-kāśyapa, the venerable Śāriputra, the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana's son, Ānanda, and other great Śrāvakas. In the evening, they arose from their respective meditations and went to where the Blessed One was. They bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, circumambulated him three times, and sat down on one side. Furthermore, there were also hundreds of thousands of koṭis of Bodhisattva-mahāsattvas, all of whom were renowned for possessing great glory and splendor like great Nāga kings.
