With great fear arising in his heart, he entered the palace and spoke thus to the queen: "O goddess, do you know? I have heard that people later on were searching everywhere for the prince, but have not yet found him." Then, when that queen heard those words, great sorrow arose, and she wailed. With eyes filled with tears, she went before the king and reported to the king thus: "Great god, I have heard from the people later on that my beloved youngest son is lost." When the king heard those words, he became very frightened and, suppressing his emotions, uttered this lament: "Alas, how painful! Today my beloved son is lost." Having said this, he wiped away his tears and comforted the queen, saying: "Fair-faced one, do not grieve. Today I will go out together with you to search for our son." Having said this, the king, together with the queen and a great multitude of people, went out from the city, and dispersing separately, searched in all directions. Before long, a great minister came near before the king and reported to the king thus: "O god, I have heard that the prince is not here, please do not be distressed. The youngest prince is still not found." When the king heard those words, he wailed and said: "Alas, my beloved son is lost!" When there was a son at first, the joy was small; later, when the son was lost, the suffering was great. If my son's life could be regained, even if my body dies, there would be no suffering. When the queen heard those words, she was completely enveloped by sorrow, as if struck by an arrow, and so she spoke this lament: "My three sons and their attendants, were digging in the forest and playing together, but the beloved youngest son alone has not returned, surely the evil omen of separation has become a reality." After that, a middle minister also came near before the king, and the king asked that minister where the beloved son was. That middle minister, thinking of this, wept, and his throat and tongue dried up,

Unable to answer, the queen asked: "Little son, where are you now, tell me quickly! My whole body feels like it's been burned. Due to confusion and bewilderment, I've lost my inner mind. My chest, it feels like it's about to crack open today." After that, the middle minister reported in detail to the king all the things about the prince giving away his body. The king and queen, upon hearing these words, grieved and wept, their eyes filled with tears, and hurried to the place where the prince had given away his body. Arriving at the Garden of Light, the place where the Bodhisattva had given away his body, they saw all the bones scattered everywhere and immediately fell to the ground, fainting as if dead. Just as a strong wind fells a great tree, their minds were confused, their memories lost, and they knew nothing at all. After that, the great minister and others sprinkled water everywhere, and after a long time, the king and queen finally regained consciousness. Then, raising their hands, they sat up and spoke words of sorrow: "Alas! Beloved son, possessing a beautiful countenance. Why did the suffering of death come early to torment you? If I had died before you, how could I have seen such suffering?" After that, the queen's fainting gradually subsided, her hair disheveled, she beat her chest with both hands and rolled on the ground like a dried fish, weeping like one who has lost a child, and spoke words of sorrow: "Who cut off my son? The remaining bones are scattered on the ground. Because I have lost my beloved son, I cannot bear the grief and lamentation myself. Alas! Who killed my son? Experiencing such a sorrowful event. If my heart were not stone, why has it not cracked? In my dream, two breasts, were cut off by others, and I saw my teeth falling out, today I endure great suffering. Of the three pigeon chicks, seeing one carried away by a hawk, today I have lost my beloved son, the omens of ill fortune are not false." After that, the great prince lovingly embraced the queen and the two children, weeping, removed all his ornaments, and together with a multitude of people, the Bodhisattva
