They searched for food everywhere but had no time, as they were extremely tormented by hunger and thirst, saying that rather than eating demons, they would eat the children. Prince Mahasattva said: What kind of food do these tigers usually eat? The great prince said: Tigers, lions, jackals, etc., eat only warm flesh and blood. Other than that, food and drink cannot alleviate their weakness. Upon hearing this, the second prince said: This tigress is thin and weak, afflicted by hunger and thirst, with only a small remnant of life left. How can we find such difficult-to-obtain food and drink? Who will give up their body and life for them and relieve the suffering of hunger and thirst? The great prince said: Among all things difficult to give up, there is nothing more precious than my body. Prince Mahasattva said: Now we each cling to our own bodies and are very attached, and because we lack wisdom, we cannot help others. But holy beings possess great compassion, and in order to always benefit others, they sacrifice their own bodies to benefit sentient beings. Furthermore, thinking that my body has decayed and been destroyed meaninglessly for hundreds of thousands of lifetimes without doing any good, why not completely abandon it like spit today and relieve the suffering of those afflicted by hunger? At that time, the princes spoke such words, each generating loving-kindness, and without taking their eyes off the weak tigress, they circled around her for a long time, and then together abandoned their bodies and jumped into the cave. Afterward, Prince Mahasattva thought, the time for me to give up my body and life is today. Why is that? Because even though I have long clung to this body, it is impure, smelly, oozing pus, and disgusting. Even if I serve it with utensils, clothes, food, vehicles, elephants, horses, wealth, and jewels, it will change and be destroyed, its nature is impermanent. Seeking permanence is futile, and guarding it is very difficult. Even if I constantly make offerings and serve it, it will eventually abandon me.

Do not know the kindness. Furthermore, this body is impermanent, of no benefit to me, terrifying, like an enemy, unclean, like excrement. Now, I will accomplish vast deeds with this body, make a great ship in the ocean of birth and death, completely abandon samsara, and surely attain liberation. Furthermore, thinking this way, if this body is abandoned, then diseases and immeasurable incurable illnesses, and hundreds and thousands of fears will be abandoned. This body is only filled with feces and urine, as unstable as a bubble, gathering many worms, with veins and bones interconnected, extremely disgusting, and filled with faults. Therefore, now I will completely abandon the body and completely seek the unsurpassed and perfect Nirvana, completely abandoning the faults of Nirvana, the suffering of impermanence, and strife, cutting off the cycle of samsara. Abandoning faults, I will cultivate perfectly through the power of Samadhi and wisdom, adorned with hundreds and thousands of merits, becoming all-knowing, and attain the extremely rich Dharmakaya praised by many Buddhas. Having attained it, I will also give limitless benefits to sentient beings through the Dharma. At that time, the prince, with extremely firm courage and great aspirations, and with a mind of great compassion, his heart calmed and growing, but the two brothers, because of fear and dread, created obstacles, fearing that the aspiration would not be fulfilled. He said to the two brothers: "Please, brothers, return. I will come back again for a while." Then, the great-hearted prince again entered the grove, went to the tigress, took off his clothes and placed them on the bare ground, and made this aspiration: "I am most wise, for the sake of all sentient beings, seeking the state of unsurpassed Bodhi, generating a mind of great compassion, unwavering, abandoning the body cherished by beings. Because Bodhi is without disease and suffering, all wise beings greatly admire it. All sentient beings in the ocean of suffering of the three realms, today I will lead them to happiness."
