Because there was, in order to catch fish, upstream of that river, in a place with a large cliff, the river was not allowed to flow down, so the place where the river was diverted was also very difficult to manage. He thought to himself that this place was very deep and the cliff was large, and even a hundred thousand people could not dredge it for three months, let alone me alone. Then the merchant's son quickly returned to his city, went to the great king, bowed his head to his feet, sat aside, and respectfully put his palms together and said: In the great king's territory, I have cured the people of all kinds of diseases and made everyone happy. Finally, while traveling around, I went to a temple called "Zhong", and a temple called "Lotus Pond". Because it was close to the water source, there were ten thousand fish there, but because the sun dried up the water, they would die soon. Great King, please have mercy and compassion, and immediately grant twenty elephants to dredge the river. Just as I have saved the lives of many patients, I will also save the lives of these fish. Then the great king ordered the minister: Quickly give the elephant to this king of medicine. At that time, the minister took the king's order and said to the merchant's son: Well done, great man! Go to the elephant stable yourself, choose twenty elephants as you wish, take them away, benefit sentient beings, and obtain happiness. Then he and two watermen led twenty elephants, borrowed many leather bags from the wine seller's house, went to the place where the river was dredged, filled the leather bags with water, put them on the elephants' backs, transported them to the pond, and poured them into the pond, and the pond was as full as before. At that time, the merchant's son looked at the four sides of the pond, and then those fish also followed and swam on the shore as before. Then the merchant's son also like this

He thought, "Why are all these many fish following me? Could it be that they are not being eaten by demons, but are suffering from hunger and begging me for food? I should give them alms." Thinking this, the merchant's son, Chu Beb, said to his sons, "Take a mighty elephant and quickly go home to inform your father, the merchant. Gather all the edible things in the house, the food that your parents deserve, the portions for your sons and wives, and the shares for the male and female servants, and bring them here." Then, the two sons listened to their father's instructions, mounted the great elephant, and quickly went home. They went before their grandfather and explained the matter in detail. They took all the edible things in the house, loaded them onto the elephant, and quickly went to the pond where their father was. Then, Chu Beb saw his sons arriving and his body and mind were filled with joy and satisfaction. He took the food and scattered it throughout the pond. The fish received the food and were all full and satisfied. He also thought, "Now that I have given food and the fish have been able to live, may I also give the food of Dharma in the future, so that limitless beings may be satisfied." Furthermore, he thought, "I once saw a monk in the forest of a monastery reading a Mahayana sutra, and I also heard the precious meaning of the profound Dharma of the twelve links of dependent origination. Furthermore, the sutra says that if any sentient being hears the name of the Tathagata Ratnaketu at the time of death, they will be reborn in the higher realms. Now I should teach the profound Dharma of the twelve links of dependent origination to these ten thousand fish, and also recite the name of the Tathagata Ratnaketu. In this Jambudvipa, there are two kinds of beings: those who have great faith in the Mahayana, and those who do not believe and even slander it. I will also increase the faith of those who do not believe." At that time, the merchant's son thought, "I will enter the pond."

Thinking that he should expound the extremely profound Dharma to those many fish, he entered the water and said: Homage to the departed Thus-gone One, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Blissful One, Knower of the World, the unsurpassed guide of beings, the teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Bhagavan Ratnaśikhin (Jewel Crested). This Thus-gone One, when practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva in the past, made this vow: "In the ten directions of the world, any sentient beings who hear my name at the time of death will be reborn in the Heaven of the Thirty-Three after death." After proclaiming this, the water-giver also expounded the extremely profound Dharma to those fish in the pond, saying: "This exists, therefore that exists. This arises, therefore that arises. Like this, with ignorance as a condition, there is action. With action as a condition, there is consciousness. With consciousness as a condition, there is name and form. With name and form as a condition, there are the six sense sources. With the six sense sources as a condition, there is contact. With contact as a condition, there is feeling. With feeling as a condition, there is craving. With craving as a condition, there is grasping. With grasping as a condition, there is becoming. With becoming as a condition, there is birth. With birth as a condition, there is aging and death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, and distress arising. Thus, this entire mass of suffering arises." "This ceases, therefore that ceases. Like this, with the cessation of ignorance, action ceases. With the cessation of action, consciousness ceases. With the cessation of consciousness, name and form cease. With the cessation of name and form, the six sense sources cease. With the cessation of the six sense sources, contact ceases. With the cessation of contact, feeling ceases. With the cessation of feeling, craving ceases. With the cessation of craving, grasping ceases. With the cessation of grasping, becoming ceases. With the cessation of becoming, birth ceases. With the cessation of birth, aging and death cease. With the cessation of aging and death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, and distress all cease. Thus, this entire mass of suffering ceases." He expounded these Dharmas.
