Having arrived before the Blessed One, they bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, sat down on one side, and listened to the Dharma spoken by the command of the Blessed One. The Thus-Gone One, the Arhat, the Perfectly and Completely Awakened One, possessed of knowledge and conduct, the Well-Gone, the Knower of the World, the unsurpassed guide of beings, the teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One, will become known as King of Gold and Jewel Mountain and will appear in the world. After that Thus-Gone One has passed into complete nirvana, and the teachings of the doctrine have declined, at that time this great son, Silver Crest, will become the successor of that Thus-Gone One in that very world. I also heard that those ten thousand sons of gods were prophesied by those three great beings. Like this, having heard this supreme King of Sutras, great joy arose in my mind, and I became pure and stainless, like the sky. Then, the Tathagata, knowing with his wisdom that the roots of virtue of those ten thousand sons of gods were fully ripened, prophesied them to great enlightenment, saying: 'Sons of gods, after countless immeasurable hundreds of thousands of billions of eons have passed in the future, in a world called "Manifestation of the Supreme Lord's Crown," you will manifest the supreme, perfect, and complete enlightenment. The lineage will also be the same, and the name will also be the same, and all faces and eyes will be pure, and you will have ten perfect names called "Utpala Fragrance Mark." In this way, ten thousand Buddhas will appear in the world in succession.' Thus he prophesied. Then, the goddess of the Bodhi tree said to the Blessed One: 'Blessed One, these ten thousand sons of gods have come before the Blessed One from the abode of the Thirty-Three Gods to listen to the Dharma. Ah, after each of them has attained countless and endless kalpas, they will then receive the prediction of enlightenment. World Honored One, what are the causes and conditions for these sons of gods? What kind of supreme conduct have they accomplished? What kind of roots of virtue have they created that they have come here from the heavenly realms, and by merely hearing the Dharma for a moment, they have received the prediction? World Honored One, please explain this to me and cut off the net of my doubts. The World Honored One said to the tree goddess: Daughter of good family, just as you have said, all of this is because they have cultivated the causes and conditions of supreme roots of virtue, and through diligent effort, they have attained the prediction. Therefore, many sons of gods have abandoned the bliss of the five desires from the supreme heavenly palace, and have come here specifically to listen to this Sutra of Golden Light. Having heard the Dharma, they have also developed reverence in their minds for this sutra, and have become like completely pure vaidurya, without the defilement of faults. Furthermore, they have also heard the matter of the prediction of these three Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas.
