Just as the Dharmadhatu is said to be pure because all unreal discriminations do not arise, but it cannot be said that the true nature of the Buddhas does not exist. Furthermore, son of good family, what is the Dharmakaya? It is that which, when the obscurations of affliction are completely purified, shows the Sambhogakaya. When the obscurations of karma are completely purified, it shows the Nirmanakaya. Because the obscurations of knowledge are completely purified, it shows the Dharmakaya. For example, just as lightning arises in dependence on the sky, and light arises in dependence on lightning, so too, because of dependence on the Dharmakaya, it shows the Sambhogakaya. In dependence on the Sambhogakaya, it shows the Nirmanakaya. Because the nature is completely pure, it shows the Dharmakaya. Because wisdom is completely pure, it shows the Sambhogakaya. Because samadhi is completely pure, it shows the Nirmanakaya. That which is the complete purification of these three is not different from the Suchness of Dharma, the Suchness that is of one taste with Suchness, the Suchness of liberation, and the Suchness of the ultimate. Therefore, there is no difference in the bodies of the Buddhas. Son or daughter of good family, if someone says, "The Tathagata is my great teacher," that person who has such definite faith will understand with a very pure mind that the Tathagata does not have different bodies. Son of good family, therefore, if one completely eliminates unreal mental activity towards objects, one will understand that those dharmas are without duality and there will be no discrimination. Suchness, one will attain the supreme purity of the wisdom of suchness. Suchness, and the realm of dharma, and the complete purity of true wisdom, thus, in the same way, all perfections of autonomy will also be completely gathered. The pacification of all obscurations will also be completely perfected, for having attained the complete purity of all obscurations, it is called suchness, true wisdom, and true nature. Whatever is seen in this way is called the view of the noble ones, and that is called seeing the Buddha in reality. Why is that? Because one sees the suchness of dharma as it is, therefore the Tathagatas will see all the Tathagatas without exception. Why is that? Because the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, having definitely emerged from the three realms, even by completely seeking the true sphere of activity, cannot comprehend or see it. Even such noble individuals cannot know or see it, therefore all ordinary beings generate doubt and hesitation, and thus engage in inverted conceptualization, so they will not transcend. For example, a rabbit tries to swim in the ocean, but undoubtedly will not reach the other shore. Why is that? Because its strength is very small. Likewise, childish ordinary beings do not realize the suchness of dharma. The Tathagatas, without the intention of conceptualization, have attained great mastery over all dharmas, and because their wisdom is extremely profound and perfectly pure and complete, and because it has become their own sphere of activity and is not shared with others, therefore the Tathagatas, from countless immeasurable incalculable eons, without sparing their own lives, through practicing austerities, have attained this supreme and sacred body, which is unparalleled, inconceivable, completely beyond the sphere of words, utterly secluded, and free from fears. There is no aging or death, and the lifespan is immeasurable. There is no sleep, nor hunger or thirst. The mind always abides in samadhi, without distraction or wavering. Whoever generates a mind of contention towards the Tathagata will not see the Tathagata. Whatever the Tathagatas say, it will benefit all, so whoever listens and hears, there is no one who will not be liberated. They will not encounter fierce beasts, evil people, or malevolent spirits, and because of the power of hearing the Dharma, the fruition of ripening will never be exhausted. The Tathagatas do not possess anything that cannot be revealed, nor do they have the intention to know all knowable objects. They do not have the concept of difference between samsara and nirvana. The Tathagata does not have anything uncertain. In all four postures, the Tathagatas are always held by wisdom. There is no Dharma that is not embraced by loving-kindness and compassion, so there is nothing that does not benefit and bring happiness to all sentient beings. Sons or daughters of good family, if they hear this Sutra of Golden Light and develop faith, they will not fall into the realms of hell, hungry ghosts, animals, or asuras, but will always be born among gods and humans, and will not be born in evil places. They will always attend to and serve the Tathagatas, listen to and receive the true Dharma, and will always be born in pure Buddha-fields. Why? Because they have heard this profound Dharma. These sons and daughters of good family will be known and predicted by the Tathagatas, and will not regress from unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Sons or daughters of good family, if they hear this extremely profound and excellent Dharma even once with their ears, that person will not slander the Tathagata, and also
