Also, repeat that (deity's) mantra one hundred and eight times, along with the wheel (used for counting recitations). Spread out the cloth with flowers such as Naga flowers, Punnaga flowers, Bakula flowers, Champaka flowers, summer flowers, Dhanushkari flowers, and Malati flowers. Facing east, sit on a Kusha grass mat with a well-settled mind. With a mind focused on the Buddha and Bodhisattvas, take a fine brush in hand and paint on the cloth with a non-distracted mind. First, paint the Bhagavan Shakyamuni Buddha, who possesses all perfections, is marked with the thirty-two major marks of a great being, whose body is adorned with the eighty minor marks, who sits on a precious lotus, blazing with light from all directions, whose body is adorned with a fathom of light, who is teaching the Dharma, whose body and field possess all perfections. The lotus residing in the center has a stem of lapis lazuli, and below, two dragon kings hold the lotus stem of the great seat, gazing at the Tathagata, the right hand making a gesture of reverence, the color white, adorned with all ornaments, depicted as human-like, and the half-serpentine forms of Nanda and Upananda (dragon kings). Paint a lotus lake all around, with slightly open lotus petals and flowers, and fully blooming ones, as well as aquatic creatures, and birds and fish, etc., a vast and beautiful scene. From the root lotus stem of that Bhagavan, draw branches spreading out with many lotuses gradually rising higher. On the left side, draw eight lotus flowers, and on those lotuses, draw the forms of the eight great Bodhisattvas. First, draw the noble Manjushri, whose color is slightly yellowish like a lotus stamen, or saffron, or like gold, with a youthful appearance, like a child or a youth, with a five-tufted hairstyle, adorned with youthful ornaments, holding a blue lotus in his left hand, his right hand making reverence to the Tathagata, his body beautiful, gazing at the Tathagata with a peaceful demeanor, his face slightly fierce, possessing radiance, pervading the entire mandala.
