Saying "infinite," one dwells having closely cultivated the sphere of infinite consciousness; this is the fifth liberation. Having completely transcended the sphere of infinite consciousness in every way, saying "there is nothing at all," one dwells having closely cultivated the sphere of nothingness; this is the sixth liberation. Having completely transcended the sphere of nothingness in every way, one dwells having closely cultivated the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception; this is the seventh liberation. Having completely transcended the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception in every way, one dwells having closely cultivated the attainment of cessation of perception and feeling; this is the eighth liberation. All dharmas are characterized by non-elaboration, without complete defilement and without complete purification, without contemplation and without non-contemplation, without attainment and without non-attainment; this was declared by the Tathagata. Oṃ samantabhadra sarva svabhāva viśuddhe dhaṃ ṣaṃ khaṃ. The Perfection of Wisdom Called "Separation from Place and Non-Place." What are the four fearlessnesses? If I have made the vow, "I have perfectly awakened to complete enlightenment," and if these dharmas have not been manifestly awakened to complete enlightenment, then I do not see any valid reason why any śrāmaṇa, brāhmaṇa, god, demon, Brahma, or any other assembly of beings in the world could contend with me with dharma. Because I do not see any valid reason, I conduct myself having attained lack of fear, having attained lack of dread, and having attained fearlessness, and I make a vow in the position of a supreme great elephant. Within the assembly, I proclaim the lion's roar. I shall thoroughly turn the wheel of Brahma, which cannot be turned in the world with dharma by any śrāmaṇa, brāhmaṇa, god, demon, Brahma, or any other assembly of beings. Having made the vow, "I have exhausted the defilements," and if these defilements have not been completely exhausted, then any śrāmaṇa, brāhmaṇa, god, demon, Brahma, or any other assembly of beings in the world who are in accordance with dharma with me, and so forth. Whatever I.

If one relies on those dharmas that are shown as obstacles by (the Buddha), they will not become obstacles. This should be explained in detail. Whatever path of liberation of the noble ones that I have spoken of, it will not become liberation. How can it completely exhaust suffering, and how can it completely end suffering? Whether it is a śrāmaṇa, a brahmin, a deva, a māra, a brahma, or any assembly of beings, who in this world can refute me with the Dharma? All of this, including the inability to truly see the cause, etc., should be explained in detail. Fearlessness is because all dharmas are equality itself, the nature of illusion, because it is free from self-grasping and grasping of what is mine. What are the nine samāpattis of equality that are gradually abiding? Being secluded from desire, being secluded from sinful and unwholesome dharmas, possessing vitarka, possessing vicāra, possessing joy and bliss born of seclusion, one approaches and abides in the first dhyāna. When vitarka and vicāra cease, the inner being is completely purified, the stream of consciousness becomes one, without vitarka, without vicāra, possessing joy and bliss born of samādhi, one approaches and abides in the second dhyāna. Having abandoned attachment to joy, one abides in equanimity, possessing mindfulness and awareness, experiencing bliss with the body, the noble ones call it bliss with mindfulness, which is the observation of equanimity, one approaches and abides in the third dhyāna without joy. Having abandoned bliss, and also having abandoned suffering, and since the previous pleasure and displeasure have also ceased, there is neither bliss nor suffering, it is equanimity and mindfulness that are completely purified, one approaches and abides in the fourth dhyāna. Having completely transcended the perception of form in every way, having ceased the perceptions of resistance, and not attending to various perceptions, thinking that space is infinite, one approaches and abides in the sphere of infinite space. Having completely transcended the sphere of infinite space in every way, consciousness
