Having blessed me and all the Tathagatas, he spoke these words of mantra: The four mindfulnesses are: the inner body, the outer body, and the inner and outer body. Contemplating the body, being diligent, possessing knowledge, and possessing mindfulness, one completely eliminates attachment and unhappiness in the world and acts accordingly. One contemplates the arising of the body and acts accordingly. One contemplates the cessation of the body and acts accordingly. One does not abide in the body and takes nothing in the world. Inner feelings, outer feelings, inner and outer feelings, inner mind, outer mind, inner and outer mind, inner dharmas, outer dharmas, and inner and outer dharmas. Contemplating the dharmas, being diligent, possessing knowledge, and possessing mindfulness, one completely eliminates attachment and unhappiness in the world and acts accordingly. One contemplates the arising of the dharmas and acts accordingly. One contemplates the cessation of the dharmas and acts accordingly. One does not abide in the dharmas and takes nothing in the world. Always abiding in the equality of body, speech, mind, and dharmas through the perfection of wisdom. Oṃ kaṃ oṃ catvāri smṛtyupasthānanā hūṃ. The four right abandonments are: in order to prevent the arising of unwholesome and non-virtuous dharmas that have not yet arisen, one generates desire and strives in a way that does not focus on them. One exerts effort. One holds the mind. One makes the right aspiration. In order to abandon unwholesome and non-virtuous dharmas that have arisen, one generates desire, etc. In order to generate virtuous dharmas that have not yet arisen, one generates desire. One strives. One exerts effort. One holds the mind. One makes the right aspiration. In order to increase and expand virtuous dharmas that have arisen, in order to make them vast, and in order to perfect meditation, one generates desire. One strives. One exerts effort. One holds the mind. One makes the right aspiration. One should understand that all dharmas are not abandoned in ultimate truth, nor are they attained for the sake of non-abandonment, thus said the Bhagavan.
