Place the left hand in a fist at the heart, and beckon with the left index finger like a hook. This is the mudra for inviting the water deity. The same mudra, with the left index finger attached to the fist and held, is the lasso mudra, the vow mudra of the water deity. Extending the index finger from the invitation mudra is the mudra of dismissal. The mantra for this is: Tritri phuta tritri shikhi toli birupaksha svaha. Facing the direction of the wind deity, sit holding the left hand in a fist, raising the middle finger, bending the index finger to the third joint, pointing the tip downwards and extending it forward. Do the same with the right hand, placing it sideways like an axe, and urging it with the thumb. This is the mudra for inviting the wind deity.
