The unborn is birth, and the born does not arise again. If one examines the ultimate truth, then from the beginning, it is unborn. Likewise, death does not die, and the absence of death is not death. Without abiding, there is no place to abide, and with abiding, there is no need to abide. If the unborn were to change and perish, and the unborn were to be born again, then even a rabbit's horn would arise and cease. If it is said that what exists arises, then what has already arisen would arise again. If it is said that what does not exist arises, then even a barren woman's child would arise. Therefore, it is said that all is ignorance, the nature of the three formations. The sentient beings with the five aggregates are known to be merely appearances. For a while, with this reasoning, Bodhisattvas should know the Nirvana of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. The Bodhisattvas said: Since all is unborn, how does this mantra arise? How does the lineage arise? How is the mandala meditated upon? How is that accomplishment achieved? Vajrapani said: The nature of dependent arising is how things arise. By relying on mantras, mudras, and so on, accomplishments arise. All accomplishments are conventional, and the Buddhas' Prajna, the Buddhas' Vajrasattva, can also accomplish in the conventional. The Second Chapter. The order of the ritual of mantra recitation, after this, should be truly explained, for by merely knowing it, the practitioner can achieve accomplishment. Coral subdues, topaz clothing pacifies poison, crystal increases wisdom, and it should be applied to the three actions. In a clean place of birth, make a stove in the shape of a Bodhi tree leaf, light a fire on an Ashoka tree, and burn one hundred and eight red lotuses according to the ritual. Take fire from a dancer's house, smear it with the three sweets, and it is the root mantra and activity. Outwardly, make a wheel, draw a triangular mandala on a cloth stained with menstrual blood, write the name of the one to be subdued and the practitioner in the mandala, and write words of entreaty, such as "May so-and-so be subdued by me," and then recite the root mantra.
