Ground. Then, those sentient beings, for the sake of the wealth of other sentient beings who abide by the law, descended into the city and began to recite the words of mantras. To this, those who lived in the city said, 'This is not the only one, other sentient beings also begin to recite, therefore, for that sentient being, reciting, reciting,' this is the worldly term. With this cause and this condition, the Brahmin caste came into being in the world. Other sentient beings, when the time comes, complete their work with reason, therefore, for them, 'royalty, royalty,' this is the worldly term. With this cause and this condition, the Kshatriya caste came into being in the world. Other sentient beings, doing lowly work, support themselves with it, therefore, for them, 'Vaishya caste, Vaishya caste,' this is the worldly term. With this cause and this condition, the Vaishya caste came into being in the world. Before the Brahmins appeared, other beings, in order to take a wife, rode in wooden carts to the other side of the monastery. On that side, the wooden cart broke down, therefore, they were called 'Chandala, Chandala.' Those who plow the fields are called 'farmers, farmers.'

The root is one. Because the divisions of offering on the path and protecting the state are explained in detail, all those Brahmins are called explainers. From one divided into twenty-five, as follows: Dry Holding, Increasing Holding, Essence. Among them, Dry Holding is ten, Increasing Holding is eight, and Essence is seven. These are the Brahmins who explain in detail the twenty-five distinctions from one. Brahmins express combinations through inference. From one aspect, a thousand forms are shown, as follows: Discipline Bark, Solitude, Eye of the World, Gautama, Equality with Brahmins, Equality with the Great, Possessing Great Vehicle, True Fierce, All Mantras. Then, Discipline Bark has twenty, Solitude has twenty signs, Eye of the World has twenty-four, Gautama has one hundred, Equality with Brahmins has one hundred, Equality with the Great has five hundred, Possessing Great Vehicle has one hundred, True Fierce has one hundred, and All Mantras also have one hundred. These are the parts of the Brahmin's combination expression, from one aspect, dividing various activities into thousands to show. Brahmins symbolize the path with inference, which is the path of all Brahmins. From one path divided into twenty-one, as follows: Katha, Mind Gathering, Abode, Victory's Ear, Self's Supreme Foot. Among them, Katha is ten, Mind Gathering is ten, Abode is eleven, Victory's Ear is thirteen, and Self's Supreme Foot is sixteen. Sages are forty-one, thus the Brahmin's path part is from twenty-one becoming divided into twenty-one. The Brahmins' inference is the divisions of protecting the state, those are the divisions of the Brahmins' protecting the state. Offering from one divided into two. Distinguishing from the four elements, resulting in eight. Distinguishing from eight, resulting in twenty-two. These Brahmins are the distinctions of protecting the state.

There are twenty-two types of offerings when they are combined into one. If the measurements inferred by the Brahmins are divided differently, there are one hundred and twenty-two types. Furthermore, the sixteen divisions of knowledge have been accurately explained by the Brahmins of the past. Recitation includes location, grammar, worldly expansive learning, meter, and speculative learning. There is nothing that is not understood among these; everything is comprehended. Therefore, it should be understood that all of these are one and the same; they are accomplished as one. The Brahmin therefore says that these are merely names and terms of the world. The so-called Brahmin caste, Kshatriya caste, Vaishya caste, and Shudra caste are all the same; there is no difference. Please give your daughter, a beautiful young woman, to my son, the young Tiger-Ear, for marriage. Whatever the value, it will be measured according to your wishes. When the Chandala king Treshanku heard such words, the Brahmin Lotus-Heart became silent. He was dejected, his shoulders drooped, his head lowered, and he was unable to answer; this was a terrible situation. Then, the Chandala king Treshanku saw that the Brahmin Lotus-Heart was dejected, his shoulders were drooping, his head was lowered, and he remained unable to answer, without saying a word. Having seen this, he spoke as follows: Brahmin, when will you understand that because there is no such difference, you are connected with me? Or, if that is not the case, Brahmin, you should understand it this way: What do you think about this? Anyone who is learned, disciplined, wise, and virtuous is a Brahmin. Whatever is excellent, my son, the young Tiger-Ear, also possesses those same qualities, so he will also become a Brahmin. Whoever performs qualified offerings, performs horse sacrifice offerings, human sacrifice offerings, offerings of righteous conduct, and impermanent offerings, all of them will be separated from the body and be born in the happy realm of the heavens. To consider that the one who does these is a Brahmin, the Brahmin should also view it that way.
