Praying with these verses of harmonious words: We generate Bodhicitta, to extensively benefit sentient beings, follow the Buddha's teachings, and constantly offer respect and service. May the Buddha protect us with the power of compassion, liberate us from suffering, and bring ease to body and mind. We remember the kindness of the Buddha, Bodhisattvas, and virtuous friends. Towards teachers, lamas, parents, and all other sentient beings, we maintain equanimity towards love and hatred, and the merit of kindness is without duality. At that time, in the sky above, the gods of the desire realm, such as Indra, the lord of gods, showered down flowers of divine substances like rain, and offered music of divine substances to the Tathagata, and prayed with harmonious verses, saying: With our past merits, the light shines most magnificently, with excellent offerings, we accomplish the benefit of all beings. It is extremely rare to meet the Buddha, and extremely difficult to hear the sacred Dharma. Because we accumulated virtuous roots in the past, we met the gods of the Shakya clan. In order to remember the Buddha's kindness, we generate Bodhicitta, and we dedicate the merits of seeing the Buddha and the virtues of the three vehicles entirely to unsurpassed Bodhi for the benefit of all beings. At that time, the gods spoke these verses, circumambulated the Buddha hundreds of thousands of times, bowed to the Buddha with their heads, and then returned to the sky above. Furthermore, the Tathagata's skillful means and the power of the great compassion's virtuous roots are inconceivable. At that time, in the vast city of Vaishali, there was a Brahmin who was attached to wrong views and was controlled by arrogance. Shariputra and Mahamoggallana befriended the Brahmin and often went to his house to teach the Dharma, but he did not develop faith and instead clung to evil views. The Brahmin was very wealthy and had countless jewels, but he had no son. He thought, if I die, all the wealth and livestock will be taken back. So, he offered and prayed to the mountain gods, tree gods, and so on, and after ninety days, his wife became pregnant. After that, she gave birth to a baby boy after a full month.

A person with a good appearance, pleasing to the eye, possessing human characteristics, beloved by parents, and pleasing to many was born. That child was raised and, when he reached the age of twenty, wandered outside with friends, going as if to watch a spectacle, and on the road he met a mad bull, which trampled him and he died. When the parents heard that their child had died, they cried out, weeping and wailing, rolling on the ground, covering their bodies with dust, and tearing their hair, saying, "Our only precious one is gone!" Wailing, they went to the place where the child's body was, took the child's body into their arms, fainted, and upon regaining consciousness, they only wept and became intoxicated. They even lost their clothes and went about naked, and then they met the Tathagata. Then, through the power of the Tathagata's great compassion, he manifested as their son and met with them, and the parents of the son developed a mind of great joy. They took the son into their arms, and their intoxication also cleared, and their minds returned to normal, and the Tathagata taught them the Dharma. Having heard the Dharma, they quickly generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Furthermore, it is like this: the great compassion of the Tathagata and the power of the roots of virtue are inconceivable. At that time, King Virudhaka marshaled four types of armies and defeated the people of Kapilavastu, the land of the Shakyas, and seized the sons of the Shakya clan, digging holes in the ground up to their armpits, so that they could not move, and buried them all in the earth. After they had been buried in the earth for seven days, the Tathagata, through the power of great compassion, transformed the earth pits into bathing ponds. The water of the ponds was endowed with eight qualities, and the surface was covered with lotus flowers. It was like this: lotus flowers and white lotuses, and blue, red, yellow, and white flowers, as large as chariot wheels, completely covered the surface, and various kinds of birds also manifested, uttering melodious sounds. At that time, the sons of the Shakya clan, having become like that, generated a mind of great joy and quickly generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Having generated the mind of enlightenment, King Virudhaka, having intoxicated five hundred untamed black elephants with alcohol, ordered them to trample.
