Having placed it beside the shore of the perfection of wisdom, he completely accomplished the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings. The Blessed One said to Ananda and the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, and all the many retinues: "Noble sons, who among you will always remember the kindness of the Buddha, and for the sake of protecting the sacred Dharma, will write this extremely profound Sutra of Great Skillful Means for Repaying Kindness into books, read it, and recite it? Who will generate great diligence in the evil times of the future, and protect and uphold this unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment? Who, for the sake of protecting the Dharma, will widely propagate this Sutra and be able to do what benefits and brings happiness to all sentient beings?" After he said this, at that time, in that very assembly, hundreds of thousands of Bodhisattva Mahasattvas stood up, adjusted their robes, bared one shoulder, knelt on their right knees on the ground, folded their palms, and said to the Buddha: "Blessed One, we are willing to protect this unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment in the evil times of the future, uphold the sacred Dharma, and do what benefits many sentient beings." 谁能，乐于给予众生安乐。菩萨月光禀告说：世尊，我能，劝勉众生行作福德之业。菩萨沙门禀告说：世尊，我能劝勉众生一切不住于放逸。菩萨慧无尽禀告说：世尊，我能，为一切众生，开示穷尽不可知的界之义。菩萨月光童子禀告说：世尊，我乐于为一切众生，行作给予无上安乐之事。如是诸菩萨，各自立誓。为了圆满庄严菩提，利益一切众生，忆念安乐与佛陀的恩德，以及报答佛陀的恩德，从座位上起身，合掌恭敬，祈请说：请将这部佛经，交付于我们。当时，具寿阿难禀告说：世尊，这部经叫什么名字？应如何受持？世尊告诉阿难说：这部经的名字，也可称为《摄集一切善法》，也可称为《大方便》，也可称为《圣者意行》，也可称为《报佛恩》。世尊对阿难和诸位菩萨摩诃萨这样说道：你们应当如所宣说的那样，精勤修持。当宣说这部佛陀完全教诫的章节时，七万二千声闻，发起了无上菩提心。此外，天、龙、夜叉、乾闼婆、人非人、大腹行、人与非人等一切众生，都随喜赞叹佛陀所说。大方便报佛恩经中，名为亲近品的第九品。大方便报佛恩经圆满结束。

Who is it that delights in bestowing happiness upon sentient beings? The Bodhisattva Moonlight reported: "World Honored One, I am willing to encourage sentient beings to engage in meritorious deeds." The Bodhisattva Shramana reported: "World Honored One, I am willing to encourage all sentient beings not to dwell in negligence." The Bodhisattva Inexhaustible Wisdom reported: "World Honored One, I am willing to show all sentient beings the meaning of the inexhaustible realm of the unknowable." The Bodhisattva Moonlight Youth reported: "World Honored One, I am willing to bestow supreme happiness upon all sentient beings." Thus, these Bodhisattvas each made their vows. In order to fully adorn Bodhi, benefit all sentient beings, remember happiness and the kindness of the Buddha, and repay the kindness of the Buddha, they rose from their seats, joined their palms in reverence, and requested: "Please entrust this Buddha Sutra to us." At that time, the Venerable Ananda reported: "World Honored One, what is the name of this Sutra? How should it be upheld?" The World Honored One told Ananda: "The name of this Sutra can also be called 'Gathering All Virtuous Things,' it can also be called 'Great Expedient Means,' it can also be called 'The Conduct of the Holy Ones' Intent,' and it can also be called 'Repaying the Buddha's Kindness.'" The World Honored One said to Ananda and the Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas: "You should diligently practice as it has been taught." When this chapter of the Buddha's complete teachings was taught, seventy-two thousand Shravakas generated the mind of unsurpassed Bodhi. Furthermore, all beings such as gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, humans, non-humans, great belly-walkers, humans and non-humans, rejoiced and praised what the Buddha had said. In the Sutra of Great Expedient Means for Repaying the Buddha's Kindness, the ninth chapter is called the Chapter of Approaching Closely. The Sutra Called Great Expedient Means for Repaying the Buddha's Kindness is completely finished.
