As soon as he said, "May it reappear as before in the eyes of the queen," it appeared clearly as before in the eyes of the father king and both parents, and they became very happy and satisfied. At that time, Prince Good Meaning, on the day of the full moon, the fifteenth, bathed, put on clean yellow clothes, and placed the wish-fulfilling jewel on top of his hair knot. Holding a censer in his hand, he prostrated to the wish-fulfilling jewel and prayed thus: "I have endured great suffering for the sake of all sentient beings of Jambudvipa and have taken the wish-fulfilling jewel." As soon as he said this, at that time a great wind arose from the east, blowing away the clouds and fog, making the sky completely clear. All the unclean filth, excrement, rags, and all unpleasant things in Jambudvipa were blown away by the wind and completely cleaned. By the blessing of the wish-fulfilling jewel, rice that grew naturally in Jambudvipa without being plowed fell like rain. That rice was soft, full of color and flavor, and everywhere it fell to the point of being submerged up to the knees. After that, sacred clothes to wear, rings for bodily adornment, jewels and bracelets, and so on, fell like rain. After that, gold, silver, the seven precious things, and so on, as well as various musical instruments, in short, all the necessities that all sentient beings needed, all that was desired, fell like rain, making everything sufficient and satisfied. The Bodhisattva, by the power of great compassion, practiced the perfection of generosity, and the meaning of giving sufficiently all the necessities to all sentient beings is like this. The Blessed One said to Ananda: At that time, if you think that the great king of Varanasi was another person, do not look at it that way. At that time, the great king was now my father, King Suddhodana. At that time, if you think that the queen was another person, do not look at it that way. At that time, the one who became the queen was now my mother, Queen Maya. At that time, the evil meaning prince

e is now Devadatta. At that time, Prince Good Deeds was me. This Devadatta always harmed me with malice in the past, but I always accepted patience and always gave him kindness, always making him happy. Now that I have become a Buddha, what more needs to be said? When the Blessed One said this, hundreds of thousands of gods and humans attained the fruit of entering the stream to the fruit of arhatship. In addition, hundreds of thousands of immeasurable gods and humans generated the unsurpassed perfect Bodhicitta. Hundreds of thousands of immeasurable sentient beings generated the minds of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Ananda asked the Buddha: Blessed One, what is the name of this sutra? How should it be upheld? The Blessed One taught: The name of this sutra is "Skillful Means Buddha Repaying Kindness Universally Giving to All Sentient Beings." The many retinues were very happy to hear this sutra, prostrated and left. In addition, although Devadatta renounced the world under the Buddha's teachings, he was often jealous for the sake of fame and gain. Although Devadatta could recite 60,000 loads of incense sutras, he was still not liberated from the Avici hell. At that time, Devadatta and King Ajatasatru were very friendly, liked each other, were close to each other, and trusted each other. Then, Devadatta said to King Ajatasatru: You be the leader of the kings! I will be the leader of the Buddhas! King Ajatasatru said: Now that my father is still alive, it is not right to do so. Devadatta said: It is possible to make him not exist. I will also make the Buddha not exist. After that, is it not good for the leader of the kings and the leader of the Buddhas to do things for sentient beings? Then, King Ajatasatru, according to what Devadatta said, killed his father and seized the royal palace city of Rajgir (now Rajgir) and Varanasi (now Varanasi). Devadatta to King Ajatasatru

said: I will also make the Tathagata disappear. Ajatasatru said: The Tathagata has great supernatural power and knows the thoughts of others. How can you make him disappear? The Tathagata also has great attendants such as Sariputra, Maha Maudgalyayana, Navan, and Avinivartaniya, so you cannot do it. Devadatta said to King Ajatasatru: King, please be my friend! The king said: What do you intend to do? Devadatta said: Great King, issue a decree throughout the country that no one should give clothes, food, drink, or alms to the monks. Then, King Ajatasatru also issued a decree: Anyone who gives clothes, food, or alms to the monks will have their hands and feet cut off. At that time, the Blessed One, together with the great Sangha of monks, went to beg for alms from Vulture Peak Mountain, but found nothing. In this way, from one day to seven days, they found nothing, so the great disciples such as Sariputra used their supernatural powers to go to other countries to beg for clothes, food, and alms. At that time, Devadatta said to King Ajatasatru: Now there is not even one great Buddha disciple, only the Tathagata remains. Please send someone to invite the Tathagata. If he comes to the palace, we will intoxicate five hundred fierce black woolly elephants with wine, make them extremely drunk, and then invite the Buddha. After arriving at the palace, those mad and drunk woolly elephants will trample and kill him. Then, King Ajatasatru sent someone to invite the Tathagata, and the Buddha and five hundred Arhats accepted the king's invitation and went to Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir). Then, King Ajatasatru released five hundred mad and drunk woolly elephants, and those mad woolly elephants broke trees, tore down fences, knocked down walls, and made a loud roaring sound, rushing towards the Tathagata and the Arhats.
