Great rains also fell like rain. Great light illuminated, and by miraculous power, worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges were shaken. Moreover, countless hundreds of thousands of divine musical instruments, without being played in the sky above, naturally emitted sounds, and those Bodhisattvas, on Vulture Peak Mountain, arrived before the Tathagata, bowed their heads to his feet, circumambulated the Buddha three times, and then sat down on one side. At that time, the light of the Tathagata illuminated the southern direction, beyond eighty billion hundred thousand kotis of Buddha-fields, revealing a world called Qualities of Light. In that world, there was a Buddha named Having a Name, a Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Well-Gone, Knower of the World, Guide of Beings to be Tamed, Unsurpassed, Teacher of Gods and Humans, Buddha, Bhagavan, residing in a Buddha-field called Extremely Pure Buddha-field. That Buddha-field was extremely flat, the ground made of vaidurya, with checkered patterns drawn with pure gold, and seven kinds of precious trees growing. Those trees were as tall as an arrow's flight, adorned with flowers, fruits, branches, and leaves, and when moved by a gentle breeze, they produced melodious sounds. The various beings who heard these sounds were satisfied. At times there were springs, lakes, and bathing ponds, all filled with water possessing eight qualities, and the bottom of the ponds was covered with golden sand. On the four sides of the ponds were fragrant lotus flowers, pundarika flowers, parushaka flowers, and other blue, yellow, red, and white flowers, as large as chariot wheels, completely covering the water. In that water, there were also various kinds of birds, making very pleasing and melodious sounds. In that pond, there were boats made of seven kinds of precious jewels, and many beings played and enjoyed themselves at will. Between those precious trees, lion thrones one yojana high were arranged, with jewels

Adorned with seven treasures, celestial garments were successively spread upon the throne, emanating the fragrance of celestial incense. Upon that throne adorned with celestial flowers, the Thus-Gone One sat in full lotus posture. Countless billions of Bodhisattvas gathered before him, reverently joining their palms. Each, with harmonious voices, beseeched the Thus-Gone One, saying: "World Honored One, by what cause and what condition does this radiant light, with its beautiful colors of blue, yellow, red, and white, so exceedingly bright and incomparable, appear from the northern direction to these many retinues? All those touched by the light experience ease in body and mind. Out of compassion, we beseech the World Honored One to explain." Then, the World Honored One spoke, saying: "Noble sons, listen well and keep it in mind, and I shall explain and expound it to you. From here, beyond eighty billion hundred thousand kotis of Buddha-fields to the north, there exists a Buddha-field called 'Saha'. There resides the Buddha Shakyamuni, the Thus-Gone One, the Arhat, the Perfectly Complete Buddha, Possessing Knowledge and Conduct, the Well-Gone, Knower of the World, the Supreme Guide for Taming Beings, Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha, the World Honored One, surrounded by a vast retinue. All of the retinue are expounding the sutra of great skillful means for repaying kindness, for the sake of benefiting and bringing happiness to all sentient beings, for the sake of uprooting the thorns of wrong views from all sentient beings, for the sake of ensuring that newly aspiring Bodhisattvas never regress from the path to enlightenment and remain steadfast, for the sake of leading all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas onto the path of the ultimate One Vehicle, for the sake of enabling great Bodhisattvas to swiftly manifest enlightenment and repay the kindness of the Buddhas, for the sake of reminding all sentient beings of the profound weight of kindness, for the sake of liberating all sentient beings from the ocean of suffering, for the sake of inspiring ordinary individuals to be devoted to serving their parents, this light has appeared."

Yes. At that time, within that assembly, ten thousand Bodhisattvas, who were the leaders and teachers of many Bodhisattva assemblies, arose from their seats, bared one shoulder, knelt on their right knee, and addressed the Bhagavan thus: 'By the blessings of the Bhagavan, may we go to the world of Saha, make offerings and service to the Tathagata Shakyamuni, and listen to the excellent Sutra Pitaka of the Great Skillful Buddha repaying kindness.' Then, the Buddha said to those Bodhisattvas: 'Noble sons, after you go to the world of Saha, you should make offerings and reverence to the Buddha Bhagavan, and generate the thought of how extremely difficult it is to encounter him.' Why is that? Because the Buddha Shakyamuni practiced extremely difficult practices for countless billions of kalpas, and with great compassion made this vow: 'If I attain perfect enlightenment, may I attain perfect enlightenment in a sinful world, in a place full of mountains, gravel, rubble, pebbles, thorns, etc., in a place where beings are full of afflictions, committing the five heinous crimes and fully practicing the ten non-virtuous actions, and for the sake of benefit and happiness, may I completely cut off all suffering, be endowed with all happiness, perfect the Dharmakaya, and attain nirvana without remainder.' The Buddha Bhagavan initially made such a vow, so after you go to that world, you should act as if the Buddha himself has arrived and as if the Buddha himself is dwelling there.' After saying this, all those Bodhisattvas unanimously agreed, saying: 'We will act according to the Bhagavan's teachings.' Then, each of those Bodhisattvas, surrounded by countless billions of hundreds of thousands of Bodhisattva retinues, went to where the world of Saha was. Wherever they went in the world, those worlds
