ga. Even the noble Shakya clan belongs to this. When (the Buddha) was in Shravasti, even the internal evil castes, those who live by sweeping, belong to this. Therefore, the teachings of the Shramana Gautama are a gathering of consensus, without good or bad. It is not worthy of offering or respect. For example, when a great wind arises, all the leaves or petals fly together, so too is the Buddha's teaching. For example, just as many birds gather around food or molasses discarded by people, so too is the retinue of the Shramana Gautama, taking and eating whatever they find. Therefore, why do you proclaim that you will make offerings to the Shramana Gautama? At that time, although many people heard these words, just as the great earth cannot be moved, their minds of longing and reverence for the Tathagata did not diminish. Among the many retinues, the words spoken by the six heretical teachers did not sway their minds, which remained as firm as a vajra. Their longing and devotion did not diminish in the slightest, and after seven days, the Tathagata descended from the Heaven of Thirty-Three back to Jambudvipa (the continent of Rose Apple). Surrounded by countless hundreds of thousands of divine retinues, the light of the Tathagata illuminated everything, and countless hundreds of thousands of divine music offered worship. Gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, and all beings, both human and non-human, gathered together, prostrated, and made offerings. At that time, King Udayana also, with his retinue, went from afar to greet the Tathagata, bowed his head to the feet of the Tathagata, and sat to one side. Then, the six heretical teachers gathered together and thought: This thing called 'byur' of ours has come here, and although we proclaimed it among the people, it did not help their faith. Now, if we proclaim it in the assembly of gods and humans, perhaps we can make a distinction. At that time, the six heretical teachers thought in this way, and with hundreds of thousands of retinues, they came forward.

Having settled down, they came to the place where many retinues were gathered and sat down in one place. At that time, the son of the Gandharva named Dharma Garland, holding a lute made of seven precious jewels, came to where the Tathagata was, bowed to his feet with his head, and sat down in one place. After sitting down in one place, he played music accompanied by singing, and the extremely pleasant sound of the music satisfied the minds of all the retinues. The Shravakas, including Shariputra, unknowingly moved their bodies and danced. Mount Sumeru also shook. At that time, the Tathagata entered the Samadhi called "Having Marks," and by the power of that Samadhi, the sound of the lute resounded throughout the three thousand great thousand worlds. From the sound of the lute, the sounds of suffering, emptiness, impermanence, impurity, and selflessness arose. All sentient beings heard from the sound of the music the sounds of repaying the kindness of the Tathagata, repaying the favor, and serving their parents for immeasurable and countless kalpas. All sentient beings who heard that sound came to where the Buddha was in Jambudvipa, bowed to his feet with their heads, and sat down in one place. At that time, while the Tathagata was in Samadhi, the many retinues gazed at the Tathagata without blinking and sat silently. In the very center of that retinue's mandala, a stupa made of seven precious jewels emerged from the earth, adorned with countless banners and victory banners, hung with hundreds of thousands of precious bells, which made an extremely pleasant sound when moved by the wind, and stood up into the sky. At that time, all the many retinues were doubtful about the precious stupa that had emerged from the earth, wondering, "What is the cause, what is the reason, that such a precious stupa has emerged from the earth?" They were doubtful, and even when they relied on the wisdom of Shariputra and others to speculate, they could not understand. Even the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya, who resides in the Saha world, could not understand. Then, the six teachers of the heretics...

Having thought thus, what cause, what condition, caused such a precious stupa to appear? If another person were to ask us, and if they did not know, how could we be called all-seeing and all-knowing? Now, wouldn't it be wonderful if the ascetic Gautama could quickly show and explain it to the many attendants? As he thought this, the Blessed One arose from that samadhi. Indra, the lord of the gods, and the thirty-three gods of the heavens, arranged a lion throne and spread divine garments. Then, the Thus-Gone One sat on the lion throne in the lotus position, just as Mount Sumeru abides in the ocean. At that time, the Bodhisattva Maitreya also knew with his mind that many attendants were in doubt. I was also in doubt, and not understanding, I rose from my seat and prostrated with my head at the feet of the Buddha, and with folded hands, I said: Blessed One, what cause, what condition, caused such a precious stupa to appear? The Blessed One said to the Bodhisattva Maitreya: In the past, countless incalculable eons ago, there was a Buddha named Vipaśyin Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, complete in knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Knower of the World, Supreme Guide of beings to be tamed, unsurpassed, Teacher of gods and humans, Buddha Bhagavan, who appeared in the world and caused countless beings, billions of hundreds of thousands of kotis, to rely on unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. After that Buddha passed into nirvana, when practicing the Dharma of images, there was a place called Varanasi. There was a great king in Varanasi who possessed the wisdom of the wise and always ruled the country with righteous Dharma, and the people were happy and prosperous. That great king ruled sixty small kingdoms and had eight hundred cities, but the king had no son. Because he had no son, he made offerings and prayers to the gods of the world and all the gods for twelve years without weariness, and finally the great queen had a son.
