Nanu Sonam Tob saw the extremely difficult deed. Having seen it, his mind was filled with faith due to amazement, and he thought: Why is this great being doing such a difficult deed? I should investigate it. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra himself, transformed into the form of a Brahmin, descended from the realm of the Thirty-Three, and went to the youth Sonam Tob. Sonam Tob, why have you made yourself without hands and feet? The youth Sonam Tob did not recognize him, and after explaining the situation in detail, he said again: Friend, I suffer from the suffering of others, and I am extremely happy with the happiness of others. Therefore, when I saw this person weakened by unbearable suffering, I thought that this suffering had fallen upon me. Having given up my limbs, driven by truth, I restored this person to his former body. The end of the second volume of "The Enlightenment of Sonam Tob." After that, the lord of the gods, Indra, was greatly amazed, made the form of the Brahmin disappear, and remained in his natural state. He said to the youth Sonam Tob: Youth, when you gave up your limbs, did your mind change or did you regret it? The youth Sonam Tob said: Kauśika, I did not change my mind or regret it when I gave up my limbs. Indra said: How is that evident? Sonam Tob said: Kauśika, then let the birds hear my words of truth. Then, the youth Sonam Tob placed the mind of loving-kindness that follows all sentient beings close to his heart, looked in the four directions, and spoke the verse driven by truth: When cutting off my own limbs, If I have not regretted it today, By the truth of my words, May my body be as it was before! Immediately after speaking the verse, the great being

His body immediately returned to its original state, and a rain of divine flowers fell from the sky. The sounds of divine musical instruments also resounded. Gentle breezes also arose. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, seeing the exceedingly wondrous merit that makes gods and humans believe, the great fruit that ripens in this very life, was greatly amazed and his mind was moved. He said to the youth Sonam Tob (Merit Power): "Youth, what do you accomplish with this effort?" Sonam Tob said: "Kaushika (another name for Indra), with this effort, I will realize the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, and lead all sentient beings out of the ocean of samsara, placing them in the ultimate state of Yungdrung (Swastika, eternity), the accomplished and blissful Nirvana." Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, knowing that the youth Sonam Tob was as immovable as Mount Meru from the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, was pleased and said: "Great-hearted being, well done! Well done! Your aspiration is vast. Your effort is unshakeable. With this effort, you will soon realize the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment and become a Buddha." Having said this, the lord of the gods, Indra, praised the youth Sonam Tob and then disappeared. The youth Sonam Tob also returned to his own abode, his wish completely fulfilled. Later, after some time, the king of that surrounding royal palace passed away without an heir. Then, the queen's retinue, the youths, the ministers, the people of the city, and the people of the countryside gathered together and discussed: "Who should we enthrone as our king?" Then, some said: "We should enthrone that being who is renowned for great merit as the king." Then, they said, "Let it be so," and with one mind and one voice, they all decided to seek out that being renowned for great merit, suitable to be king, and sent people to search everywhere. The youth Sonam Tob also, due to the past roots of virtue to become a king,

Urged by his friends, he went to the outer garden with his companions. After going there, auspicious signs appeared to him: a stream of water fell from the sky onto his head; birds of various colors circled him from the right; boys and girls also proclaimed sounds of victory; his mind was joyful, and he felt comfortable. Every pore on that young man's body tingled. The ground became free of stones, tiles, and gravel. His body became very light. He also heard sounds of joy and satisfaction. He was skilled in the analysis of omens, and he thought to himself: 'Since these omens have appeared to me in this way, today I will undoubtedly be empowered as a great king.' Then, he gradually entered the garden, experiencing the pleasure of the garden, and lay down under a sorrowless tree with abundant flowers and fell asleep. His friends were also distracted by the flowers and fruits and began to wander around the garden. During this time, due to the power of the merit of the young man Sonam Tob, the nagas created a great lotus of the gods, which was very beautiful, extremely pleasing, with color and fragrance, with a thousand petals, and very delightful, and caused it to emerge from the ground. Then, the nagas slowly lifted the young man Sonam Tob and placed him on that great lotus, and blessed him in such a way that he would not wake up under any circumstances. After that, the sun passed noon, and the time for eating had passed, and the shadows of the other trees inclined towards the east and fell towards the east. When falling towards the east, the shadow of that sorrowless tree did not leave the body of the young man Sonam Tob. All the flower and fruit trees in that garden visibly bowed towards the place where that sorrowless tree was. Deer and birds, pleasing to see, and auspicious things, also gathered around him with peaceful behavior. In his dream while sleeping, the young man Sonam Tob also dreamed that he was unclean.
