What are these five? They know whether conception has occurred or not; they know the time and also the menstruation; they know whether a child has been conceived; they know from where the child was conceived; they know whether it is a boy or a girl. If it is a boy, it dwells and abides on the right side of the abdomen. If it is a girl, it dwells and abides on the left side of the abdomen. Then she was very happy and told her family, "Master, I have conceived a son, and since he dwells and abides on the right side of my womb, he will definitely become a boy, please be happy." He was also very happy, raised his upper body, stretched out his right hand, and said, "I will finally see the face of the son I have longed for for so long. May my son be suitable, may he not become unsuitable. May he do my deeds, may he support me in return for my upbringing, may he use my wealth, may my lineage last long. After we have passed away and died, whether much or little, for our sake, please give alms and accumulate merit, and wherever those two are born and go, may this go to them." He spoke these joyful words. The boy was handsome, pleasing to the eye, and beautiful, possessing all limbs and organs. After he was born, two gold coins with markings appeared on his two hands, produced from the maturation of karma. When he was born, other things would also come to pass. Then, they held a celebration for his birth and began to name the boy, saying, "What name should we give this child?" The relatives said, "As soon as this child was born, two gold coins appeared on his two hands, produced from the maturation of karma. Therefore, we should name this child 'Holding Gold'." Then, they entrusted the boy Holding Gold to eight nurses: two to feed him on their laps, two to give him milk, two to wash away dirt, and two to play with him. These eight nurses raised him with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, the essence of ghee, and all sorts of other excellent foods, so that he grew vigorously like a lotus in a lake. He was faithful, virtuous, had good thoughts, was engaged in benefiting himself and others, and was compassionate. Whenever he went to the street, if he saw monks, Brahmins, the poor, and the suffering, he would stretch out his two hands and take from the pile of marked gold and silver coins as much as they needed.
