At that time, each time a stitch was sewn, one could enter into and arise from the eight liberations. Then, after some time, the abbot ordered, "Child, go and fetch water from the Khangden River in the empty forest." Then, the novice Samana took a vase and went to the bank of the Khangden River. Then, after bathing, he filled the vase with water and went into the sky, sometimes the vase went first and the novice Samana came behind. Sometimes the novice Samana went first and the vase came behind. At that time, the Blessed One arose from inner samadhi and taught the Dharma to the four assemblies. There, the Blessed One said to the venerable Shariputra, "Shariputra, do you see this novice who is mindful, whose senses are extremely subdued, and who is coming with a vase filled with water? He has completely abandoned desire and hatred, And is free from ignorance, He who holds the last body, That is a very beautiful water cluster." When the Blessed One praised and extolled the novice Samana in front of the Sangha of monks, the monks became doubtful and asked the Buddha, the Blessed One, who cuts off all doubts, "Venerable one, what kind of deeds did this Samana do that he was born with a beautiful and pleasing appearance, like a garland of heavenly Nama flowers, and with sharp faculties, and directly realized Arhatship?" The Blessed One said, "Monks, Nama himself, in other past lives, accumulated merit and possessed the conditions, appearing like crossing a difficult ford. Because he did and accumulated those deeds that are not devoured by demons, who else would experience the deeds that Nama himself did and accumulated? Monks, the deeds done and accumulated do not ripen in the external earth element, nor do they ripen in the water, fire, or wind elements, but the good and bad deeds done and accumulated will only ripen in the aggregates, elements, and sources that are grasped. The deeds of sentient beings, Even for a hundred eons, are not lost. When the collection and the time arrive, Their fruit will surely ripen.

Transform! Monks, in the past, ninety-one kalpas ago, the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Lokavidu, Anuttara-purusa-damya-sarathi, Shasta deva-manushyanam, Buddha, Bhagavan, named Vipashyin, appeared in the world. He resided in the king's palace, supported by relatives. Later, there was a captain who, from his youth, had the thought of renouncing, but was unable to renounce. When he became old, he felt regret, thinking: I did not renounce in the Bhagavan's teaching, I have done wrong. Then, he hung nasal flowers on the stupa of hair and nails. The Samyak-sambuddha Vipashyin also accepted the offerings of the Shravaka Sangha, and he paid homage to the Buddha's feet and prayed: Through this root of virtue, generating Bodhicitta, and giving away all dharmas as charity, may I please the future Tathagatas, Arhats, Samyak-sambuddhas, Bhagavans, and may I not displease them. In whichever Buddha's teaching I renounce, may I realize the noble dharmas from my youth. Furthermore, he renounced during the time of the Bhagavan Kashyapa, and there he guarded the conduct of Brahma for ten thousand years, and therefore now he has realized the state of Arhat. Monks, therefore, those actions that are definitely black, their ripening will also definitely be black. Those actions that are definitely white, their ripening will also definitely be white. Mixed actions, their ripening will also be mixed. Monks, therefore, one should abandon actions that are definitely black and mixed actions, and only focus on actions that are definitely white. Monks, you should train yourselves in this way. The Bhagavan spoke thus, and those monks rejoiced and praised the words spoken by the Bhagavan.

The term "Holding Gold in Hand" refers to the fact that kings, great ministers, wealthy people, palace attendants, merchants, ship captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas revered, honored as teachers, regarded as models, and made offerings to the Buddha, the Bhagavan. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, who was worshipped and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas, possessed great merit and had obtained robes, food, bedding, cushions, medicines, and other necessities. Together with the monastic community of shravakas, he resided in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta, in the Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, in Shravasti, there lived a wealthy householder, rich in possessions, enjoying great abundance, vast and expansive, possessing the wealth of Vaishravana, and rivaling the wealth of Vaishravana. He had no son and no daughter. He leaned on a cane with his hands, thinking: "Although I possess many household riches, I have no son and no daughter. After I die, because I have no son, all my possessions will be seized by the king." He was depressed in his heart. Then, shramanas, brahmins, diviners, friends, relatives, and other attendants advised him, saying: "Pray to the gods!" There is a saying in the world that sons and daughters are born through prayer. But this is not the case. If sons and daughters were born through prayer, then like a Chakravartin king, each person should have a thousand sons. In reality, sons and daughters are born from the convergence of three conditions. Which three? The parents both aroused with desire and engaging in intercourse, the mother being in her fertile period and having menstruation, and a gandharva coming. It is from the convergence of these three conditions that sons and daughters are born. Even praying
