Also creating an opportunity, (they) said, "You don't have to do it." Then, (he) went to a forest clearing, and there, non-human beings with human appearances also created an opportunity. Having created an opportunity like that, he reverently attended to the Blessed One and the Sangha of Hearers for three months with robes, food, bedding, cushions, medicine for the sick, and medicinal supplies. During those three months, through diligence, practice, and effort, he realized that this wheel of cyclic existence of the five-eyed fool is wavering and unstable. He thoroughly understood that all conditioned phenomena are of the nature of destruction, falling, scattering, and disintegration. Having abandoned all defilements, he directly realized the state of an Arhat. As an Arhat, he became free from desire for the three realms, possessing a mind that equates gold with tiles and resembles the sky with the palm of the hand. He became as cool as if soaked in sandalwood, with wisdom having shattered the shell of the egg, having attained wisdom, supernormal powers, and individual self-awareness. He did not look to worldly gain, attachment, and veneration. He became an object of worship, remembrance, and respect by the gods, including those with power and attendants. Then, after the Blessed One had passed three months, he made robes, and having finished the robes, he wore the robes, took the bowl, and together with the Sangha of Hearers, departed from Maitrayani Vihara to Rajgir. After that, Lajjuduma met the Blessed One on the road and said, "You don't have to be weary." After that, after some time, (they) went to a forest clearing with water, and when the sun rose, because there was no food, (Lajjuduma) requested the Blessed One and the Sangha of Hearers to stay. Then, (the Blessed One) placed the bowl in his left hand and said, "If there is a ripening of meritorious deeds, may my bowl be filled with various kinds of food and drink." After that, the gods filled it with divine nectar. Then, Lajjuduma filled all the bowls of the Sangha of monks with food in order. There, the Blessed One said to the monks, "Monks, I..."

Among the Shravaka Bhikshunis, the most excellent in meritorious deeds is this Bhikshuni Rahula's mother. Then, the Bhikshus became doubtful, and in order to dispel all doubts, they asked the Buddha Bhagavan: "Venerable One, what deeds did Rahula's mother perform that caused her to be born into a wealthy family, with a beautiful form, pleasing to behold, lovely and charming, respected by all, and having attained Arhatship upon ordination?" The Blessed One replied: "Bhikshus, Rahula's mother, in other past lives, accumulated merit and possessed the necessary conditions. Like a rushing flood, it will not come to naught. How could others experience the deeds done and accumulated by Rahula's mother? Bhikshus, the deeds done and accumulated will not ripen in the external realm of earth, nor will they ripen in the realms of water, fire, or wind. The virtuous and non-virtuous deeds done and accumulated will only ripen in the aggregates, elements, and sense bases that are grasped. The deeds of sentient beings, even after hundreds of thousands of kalpas, will not be lost. When the conditions are gathered and the time has come, they will ripen into their own fruit. Bhikshus, in the past, there was a time when, in this Fortunate Aeon, when the lifespan of beings reached twenty thousand years, the perfectly complete Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Well-Gone, Knower of the World, Guide of Beings to be Tamed, the Unsurpassed, Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha Bhagavan named Kashyapa appeared in the world. He resided and dwelt in the Deer Park of the Rishis in the city of Varanasi. Then, the perfectly complete Buddha Kashyapa, in the early morning, put on his lower robe and Dharma robes, and carrying his alms bowl, accompanied by the Sangha of Bhikshus, went forth to Varanasi for alms. At one point, a merchant, along with his servants and retinue, went to the pleasure garden, also bringing many foods and drinks. Then, after a while, one of his maidservants, carrying a box of rice, followed behind her master.
