He was nurtured by all and grew strong like a lotus in a lake. He was one who had faith, thought well of virtue, engaged in benefiting himself and others, a compassionate, great being who desired the Dharma. The whole world, even non-humans, worshiped him and spoke of him with reverence and respect. The lands where he stepped became pure, and thus he was known as one who possessed merit and greatness. Later, on one occasion, he went to the Nyagrodha tree's monastery. There, he saw the Buddha, the Bhagavan, whose body was adorned with the thirty-two major marks of a great being, beautified by the eighty minor marks, adorned with a fathom of light, possessing light surpassing a thousand suns, perfect like a moving mountain of jewels. As soon as he saw him, he generated joy in the Bhagavan. Having generated joy, he prostrated at the feet of the Bhagavan and sat before the Bhagavan in order to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Bhagavan, having understood his thoughts, habits, faculties, and nature, taught him the Dharma in such a way that he would realize the Four Noble Truths. Having heard that, the handsome boy, with the wisdom vajra, shattered the twenty high peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates, and directly realized the fruit of stream-entry. Having seen the truth, he asked his parents and went forth into the teachings of the Bhagavan. Through diligence, practice, and effort, he realized that this wheel of samsara, composed of the five aggregates, is wavering and unstable. He thoroughly understood that all conditioned phenomena are of the nature of decay, decline, dissipation, and destruction. Having abandoned all defilements, he directly realized the state of an Arhat. As an Arhat, he became free from desire for the three realms, treating gold and dung as equal, possessing a mind as equal as the sky and the palm of the hand, becoming cool like sandalwood soaked in water, destroying the shell of ignorance with wisdom, obtaining wisdom, supernormal powers, and analytical knowledge, not looking to worldly gain, attachment, and honor, a god with power and attendants.

were places of offering, remembrance, and reverence. Then, the monks became doubtful and asked the Buddha, the Blessed One, who cuts off all doubts: "Venerable, what deeds did Bhadra do that he obtained such a body and attained the state of an Arhat?" The Blessed One said: "Monks, Bhadra himself, in other past lives, gathered the accumulations and possessed the complete conditions, appearing like a hero, and performed and accumulated those deeds that are not to be consumed by non-humans. Therefore, who else would experience those deeds done and accumulated by Bhadra himself? Monks, the deeds done and accumulated will not mature in the external realm of earth, nor will they mature in the realm of water, fire, or wind. But the good and non-good deeds done and accumulated will only mature in the aggregates, realms, and sources that are grasped. The deeds of sentient beings, Even after hundreds of eons will not be lost. When the accumulation and time arrive, They will mature into their own fruit. Monks, in the past, long ago, ninety-one eons ago, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Gone to Bliss, Knower of the World, Guide of Beings to be Tamed, the Unsurpassed, Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One, named Vipashyin, appeared in the world. He resided in the royal palace of King Kinsman, and after some time, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Vipashyin, having performed all the deeds of a Buddha, like a fire that has consumed its fuel, completely passed into Nirvana without any remainder of aggregates. Then, King Kinsman made offerings to the relics of the Blessed One, and built a stupa made of four kinds of precious jewels, one yojana in circumference and one krosha in height. There, King Kinsman, together with his kinsmen and the assembly of ministers, served and celebrated the festival of the stupa. Later, one day, the sun

Once, a poor man went to the vicinity of a stupa, and he saw old flowers there, and the stupa was covered with dust. Then, remembering the qualities of the Buddha, he generated faith. He took a broom and swept the stupa, and also removed the old flowers. Afterwards, seeing the stupa without dust and without dirt, he generated joy, prostrated at its feet, and made the aspiration: 'By this root of virtue and generation of the mind of enlightenment, may I also obtain such qualities! May I please such a teacher! May I not displease the teacher!' The Bhagavan said: 'Monks, what do you think? That poor man at that time, at that time, was this Bhadra. Because he swept the stupa, he became beautiful in appearance. Because he made the aspiration, he realized Arhatship in this very life.' Monks, therefore, those actions that are definitely black, their ripening will also definitely be black. Those actions that are definitely white, their ripening will also definitely be white. Mixed actions, their ripening will also be mixed. Monks, therefore, abandon those actions that are definitely black and mixed actions, and focus solely on those actions that are definitely white. Monks, you should train in this way.' After the Bhagavan spoke these words, the monks rejoiced and praised what the Bhagavan had said. The Buddha Bhagavan named 'Powerful' was honored, respected, revered, and offered to by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, palace attendants, merchants, captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas.
