The seventh chapter of verses. The seventh chapter of verses. The verses are: Golden light and fragrance, Handsome, powerful, and Sdugu, Lotus eyes and drum sounds, Son and sun, mighty one. What is called "Golden Light" is: The Buddha Bhagavan was revered by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, palace attendants, merchants, captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas. They honored him, made him their teacher, painted his image, and made offerings. The Buddha Bhagavan, who was worshiped and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas, possessed great merit and had obtained robes, food, bedding, seats, medicine, and medical supplies. He was residing in the Nyagrodha Garden in the place of Serkya, together with the community of Shravakas. At that time, in the place of Serkya, there lived a Shakya man who was rich, wealthy, and had great possessions. He had vast and extensive holdings, possessed the wealth of Vaishravana, and rivaled the wealth of Vaishravana. He took a wife from his own clan and enjoyed playing and rejoicing with her. As he was playing and rejoicing, his wife became pregnant, and after eight or nine months, she gave birth to a son. The boy was handsome, pleasing to look at, and beautiful. He surpassed the color of humans but had not yet attained the color of the gods. He was like the gold of the Jambu River. His golden light illuminated the entire city of Serkya. Then, his parents and other beings saw him and came to watch, marveling, "Where did such a special being come from?" and their minds were filled with wonder. Then, they held a birth celebration for him and discussed what name to give the boy. The relatives said, "When this child was born, the entire city of Serkya was illuminated by golden light. Therefore, let this boy be named Golden Light."

He was called "Light." Then, the golden light boy was entrusted to eight wet nurses: two wet nurses who nurtured him in their laps, two wet nurses who nursed him, two wet nurses who washed away dirt, and two wet nurses who played with him. These eight wet nurses raised him with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, the essence of butter, and all sorts of other excellent utensils, and he grew up like a lotus in a lake. He was intelligent, bright, broad-minded, faithful, virtuous, and of good thoughts, engaged in benefiting himself and others, compassionate, magnanimous, and desirous of the Dharma. Later, for a while, he became intoxicated with his corpulence and played outside the city. Many Shakyas also went to the Nyagrodha Grove. Then, the golden light boy saw them and asked, "Where are you going?" They said, "We are going to the Nyagrodha Grove to see the Buddha, the Bhagavan." Then, the golden light boy heard the name "Buddha." Having heard a name he had never heard before, all his hairs stood on end, and he was greatly amazed. He thought to himself, "I must also go to see the Buddha, the Bhagavan." So he also went to the Nyagrodha Grove. The golden light boy saw the Buddha, the Bhagavan, whose body was well adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great being, beautified with the eighty minor marks, adorned with a fathom of light, possessing light greater than a thousand suns, and perfect like a walking mountain of jewels. As soon as he saw him, his corpulence disappeared, and he prostrated at the feet of the Bhagavan and sat before the Bhagavan to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Bhagavan taught him the Dharma, and upon hearing the Dharma, he desired to be ordained. Then, after a while, he asked his parents and went to the Bhagavan. Having arrived, he bowed his head at the feet of the Bhagavan, and in the place where the Bhagavan was, he folded his palms together and said to the Bhagavan, "Venerable one, I wish to...

If it is possible to be ordained and receive full ordination, and to obtain the status of a monk, then I also wish to practice brahmacharya in the presence of the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One extended his hand, which was golden in color and resembled an elephant's trunk, and said to the boy Golden Light: 'Young man, come here and practice brahmacharya!' As soon as he spoke those words, his hair and beard were shaved off, and he became as if he had been ordained for seven days. His conduct was as if he had been fully ordained for a hundred years. In his hand, he held a begging bowl and a water pot. Here it is said: By the Thus-Gone One's command to 'Come!', he had his head shaved and wore monastic robes on his body. By the Buddha's intention, robes were bestowed, and in an instant, his senses were completely pacified. Then, sitting before the Blessed One, the Blessed One gave him instructions on mindfulness. Through diligence, practice, and effort, he realized that this wheel of the five eyes of cyclic existence is moving and unstable. He determined that all conditioned phenomena are of the nature of decay, fall, disintegration, and destruction. Having abandoned all defilements, he directly realized the state of an Arhat. The Arhat, having become free from desire for the three realms, possessed a mind that was equal to gold and clods of earth, a mind as equal as the sky and the palm of the hand, and had become as cool as if soaked in sandalwood. He shattered the shell of ignorance with wisdom, and attained wisdom, clairvoyance, and individual perfect knowledge. He did not look to worldly gain, attachment, and honor. He was worshipped by the gods, including the lords of power and their retinues, and became an object of reverence and respectful speech. Then, the monks arose with doubts and asked the Buddha, the Blessed One, who cuts off all doubts: 'Venerable Golden Light, what deeds did he do that he has such a beautiful form, is pleasing to look at, is beautiful, and having become ordained, has directly realized the state of an Arhat?' The Blessed One said: 'Monks, Golden Light himself, in other past lives, accumulated merit and possessed the completion of causes, and like crossing a difficult ford, he did and accumulated those deeds that would not be taken away by obstacles, so...'
