Na no. (Tibetan) 'Do good deeds,' monks, you should train yourselves in this way. (Tibetan) After the Blessed One spoke thus, the monks rejoiced and praised what the Blessed One had said. The one called Beautiful Form: The Buddha, the Blessed One, was honored by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, people of the palace retinue, merchants, ship captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and great belly-crawlers. They respected him, revered him as a teacher, regarded him as a model, and made offerings to him. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who was worshiped and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and great belly-crawlers, possessed great merit and had obtained robes, food, bedding, cushions, medicines for the sick, and medical supplies. Together with the monastic community of hearers, he was dwelling in the Jeta Grove in Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. When the Blessed One arose from inner perfect absorption, he taught the fourfold assembly the taste of the Dharma, which was like unboiled honey. Hundreds and thousands of attendants also listened to the taste of the Dharma spoken by the Blessed One without moving their senses. At that time, the monks had doubts, and in order to dispel all doubts, they asked the Buddha, the Blessed One: "Venerable One, these sentient beings have also become vessels of the precious Dharma, and they listen with reverence." The Blessed One said: "Monks, how the Tathagata generates reverence and listens to and upholds the Dharma, listen well and keep it in mind, and I will tell you. Monks, in the past, in a bygone era, in the city of Varanasi, there was a king named Beautiful Form who ruled. During his reign, there was wealth, prosperity, peace, good harvests, abundance of people, cessation of fighting and disputes, absence of war, internal strife, thieves, famine, and diseases, and rice.

There were sugarcane groves, cattle, and buffaloes. Without causing harm and driving away thorns, he ruled the kingdom as if caring for an only child. That king was also endowed with faith, virtuous, and with good intentions, engaged in benefiting himself and others. He was greatly compassionate, magnanimous, desired the Dharma, loved all beings, gave everything away, completely relinquished possessions, relinquished them without attachment, and abided in great generosity. Then, that king had a beautiful queen named Mdzés-ldan-ma (Beautiful Mother), who was beautiful in appearance, pleasing to behold, lovely, and possessed all limbs and features. He also had an only son named Mdzés-ldan (Beautiful), who was handsome and poor, inwardly lovable, pleasing, patient, and without discord. Later, one day, King Gzugs-bzang (Beautiful Form) became desirous of the Dharma, so he gathered all his ministers and said: "O lords of the land, I desire the Dharma, so seek the Dharma for me!" Then those ministers folded their palms and replied: "Great King, the Dharma is rare; the Dharma only arises when a Buddha appears in the world." Then the king hung a vessel containing a hundred thousand gold coins on the top of the royal banner and proclaimed throughout the country: "Whoever in my land can speak the Dharma, I will give this vessel containing a hundred thousand gold coins. I will also honor and praise him with great respect." After a long time, no one who could speak the Dharma appeared. Then the king grieved and despaired for the sake of the Dharma. The lord of the gods, Indra, had the power to see and know what was happening below. Seeing that the king was distressed for the sake of the Dharma, he thought to himself: "I will test King Gzugs-bzang (Beautiful Form)." Then he transformed himself into a yaksha with ugly limbs and eyes and said to the king, who was sitting among his retinue: "Do you desire the Dharma? I will teach you the Dharma." Then, when the king heard the sound of the Dharma, he rejoiced and was exceedingly delighted, and said to the yaksha: "O secret one, speak the Dharma, and I will listen." The yaksha said: "Alas, great king, to live in comfort is to speak of Dharma."

I am hungry, give me food. Then the king, having heard this, ordered those who live on blood and flesh to bring all the forms of this food and cooking. The Yaksha said: I eat and drink the flesh and blood of those who have just been slaughtered, give me this only son, Beautiful Face. Then the king, having heard this, became extremely unhappy, thinking, 'Even once on the hundred paths, hearing such a sound of Dharma, is priceless, so I must buy it.' Then, the handsome youth Beautiful Face, having heard this, prostrated at his father's feet and said: 'Please be patient, fulfill the deity's wishes, and grant me as a secret meal.' Then the king gave his only beloved, cherished, dear, pleasing, patient, and unopposing son to the Yaksha for the sake of the Dharma. Then the Yaksha, by the power of his own magical abilities, showed the king and his retinue that he was cutting the child's limbs into pieces and eating them, and also drinking the blood. Although the king saw this, he did not become unhappy because he desired the Dharma. Then the Yaksha said to the king: 'King, I am not full, give me more.' The king then gave him his beloved wife. Then he showed that he was eating her in the same way as before. Then he said to the king again: 'Oh king, I am still not full.' Then the king said to the Yaksha: 'I have already given you my only son and my beloved wife, what else do you want?' The Yaksha said: 'Give me your body, and then I will be full.' The king said: 'If I give you my body, how will I listen to the Dharma? First teach me the Dharma, and after I have heard the Dharma, I will completely give you my body.' Then the Yaksha placed the king under oath, and then in front of hundreds of thousands of attendants, he taught the Dharma: From suffering, sorrow arises, From suffering, fear arises, From fear, liberation arises, Where there is no sorrow, where is there fear? Then, as soon as the king heard these verses, his mind immediately became extremely calm, and his senses were delighted and his mind was at ease.
