Then the monks, seeing this, reported to the Bhagavan: Venerable One, some monks are afflicted with jaundice, their bodies emaciated and weak. The Bhagavan is free from illness and harm, possesses strength, and is naturally free from illness, observing that his gastric fire is balanced and possesses digestive power. He taught: Monks, the Tathagata himself, in other past lives, having accumulated merit and possessing the right conditions, arises like a torrent, having done and accumulated those deeds of not eating ghosts. Who else will experience the deeds I have done and accumulated? Monks, deeds done and accumulated

It will not mature in the external realm of earth. The realm of water, the realm of fire, and the realm of wind will not mature. The virtuous and non-virtuous actions that have been done and accumulated will only mature in the aggregates, realms, and sources that have been taken. The actions of sentient beings will not be exhausted even in hundreds of kalpas. When they are gathered and the time has come, they will ripen into fruit. Monks, in the past, in the city of Varanasi, there was a king named Padma who ruled. During his reign, there was wealth, prosperity, peace, good harvests, and it was filled with people and many people. Strife and disputes were pacified, and there was no war, internal strife, thieves, famine, and diseases. It was abundant with rice, sugarcane, cattle, and buffalo. There was no harm, and he ruled the kingdom like protecting an only child. That king was also faithful, virtuous, had a good heart, engaged in benefiting himself and others, was greatly compassionate, great-minded, desired the Dharma, loved all beings, gave all things, completely gave away, gave away without attachment, and abided in great generosity. At that time, in Varanasi, due to the imbalance of seasons and times, a great plague occurred, and most sentient beings were afflicted with leprosy. Then the king saw this and generated compassion, thinking, "I must protect and heal them." Then he gathered all the doctors in the country, instructed them, and had them understand the root, location, and pre-existing causes of the diseases of those sentient beings. Then he himself healed them and collected all the medicines. Then he healed them, providing wealth, medicine, and care, but for a long time, he was unable to heal those sentient beings. Then the king summoned all the doctors, treated them with respect, and said, "Why are these sentient beings so difficult to heal?" Then the doctors investigated and unanimously reported, "This is caused by the imbalance of the seasons and the imbalance of the elements, so we cannot fully understand it."

of the gods, but there is a medicine called fish Rohita. If it can be found, it can heal. Then the king began to search everywhere for fish Rohita, sending many people to search, but they could not find it. Then they reported to the king. Later, one day, the king went for a walk, and those patients also gathered together and reported to the king: Great King, please completely save us from this disease and grant us life. Then the king heard the pitiful, painful, and groaning voices of the patients, and his heart was filled with compassion. With tears in his eyes, he thought: If I cannot pacify the suffering of others who are tormented by pain, then what is the use of my life and such royal power? Thinking in this way, the king gave away a large amount of wealth, had his eldest son inherit the throne, confessed to his relatives and the people, praised the people of the court and the ministers, comforted the suffering patients, properly took the eight precepts, and then went to the top of the palace, burned incense, offered flowers, incense, garlands, and perfumes, faced east, and prayed: By the truth and true words, seeing that sentient beings are very poor and completely tormented by disease, I completely give up my attachment to my own life. By this truth and true words, may I be born as a fish Rohita in this river of reversal. Having said this, he jumped from the top of the palace. The moment he fell, he died and was born as a large fish called Rohita in the river of reversal. Then the gods proclaimed in all places: A large fish called Rohita has been born in the river of reversal, and it is like nectar for those who have been tormented by serious diseases for a long time. Then, as soon as they heard this news, many people took up weapons, carried nets, and began to dig, using various sharp weapons to alive
