. He said, "Let no one else who does such work come here!" As soon as she said this, that wheel of the Bodhisattva Friend's Daughter rose from her head and stood in the sky as high as seven palm trees. She died and was born in the heaven of Tushita. The Blessed One said: Monks, what do you think? At that time, at that time, whoever became the Friend's Daughter was me. Because I did business and offered Mala Karshapana, I experienced great happiness in the four great cities as a result of that ripening. Because I did small harm to Mala, I experienced such suffering as a result of that ripening. Monks, therefore, you should train like this: respect your parents and do not harm them. However, when the Friend's Daughter is born in each life, such faults will not occur again, and immediately the qualities of becoming a son of the gods will be obtained, so monks, you should train like this. Why is that? Monks, the son's parents are those who work hard, give water, nurture, give birth, suckle, and show the Jambudvipa. If a son puts his parents on his left and right shoulders and carries them for a hundred years, or fills this great earth with jewels, pearls, vaidurya, conch shells, man-shel, coral, gold, silver, the essence of stone, spuk, red lotus jewels, right-turning conch shells, and so on, and lets them have such wealth, even then the son will not be able to repay the kindness of his parents or give help. If someone leads their parents from disbelief into perfect faith, tames them, abides them, and establishes them; from immoral conduct into perfect morality; from stinginess into perfect generosity; from wrong wisdom into perfect wisdom, tames them, abides them, and establishes them, then the son will be able to repay the kindness of his parents or give help. The Blessed One said this.

Having spoken thus, the monks rejoiced and praised what the Blessed One had said. The one called "Rabbit" was revered by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, palace attendants, merchants, leaders, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kimnaras, and mahoragas to the Buddha, the Blessed One. He was made a guru, an image, and an offering. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who was worshipped and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kimnaras, and mahoragas, possessed great merit and had obtained robes, food, bedding, seats, medicine, and medical supplies. Accompanied by the monastic community of hearers, he was dwelling in the Jeta Grove in Anathapindika's Park in Shravasti. At that time, in Shravasti, there was a merchant who was rich, wealthy, and had great possessions, with extensive and vast holdings, possessing the wealth of Vaishravana, rivaling the wealth of Vaishravana. He took a wife from his own caste, and together they played, rejoiced, and enjoyed themselves. After they had been playing, rejoicing, and enjoying themselves for some time, the wife became pregnant and, after eight or nine months, gave birth to a son. They raised and nurtured the boy until he grew up. The father's wealth and possessions were exhausted. He had many friends, relatives, and a large network of connections, so he sent his son to his relatives from time to time. Then, those relatives treated him in such a way that they also turned away and became unfriendly. Later, he went to the Jeta Grove and saw the Buddha, the Blessed One, whose body was well adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great being, beautified with the eighty excellent signs, adorned with a fathom of light, possessing light surpassing a thousand suns, and who was all-good like a moving mountain of jewels. Having seen him,
