He had an umbrella-like head, long arms, a broad forehead, a high nose, a beautiful nose shape, thick eyebrows, and his body was adorned with the thirty-two major marks of a great man and beautified by the eighty minor marks. He was sitting in the lotus position. The guardian of the lotus garden also informed the king. After hearing this, the king, along with his ministers and consorts, went to the garden and saw him sitting so beautifully in the heart of a lotus. Upon seeing him, they were delighted, satisfied, and overjoyed, experiencing joy and happiness. They entered the pond, picked up the boy, and with great respect, took him to their palace. They consulted ascetics, Brahmins, and astrologers, and celebrated a grand birth festival for twenty-one days (three weeks), naming him "Ten Heads." Then, the boy Ten Heads was entrusted to eight nurses: two who held and nursed him, two who fed him milk, two who cleaned his impurities, and two who played with him. These eight nurses nurtured him with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, the essence of ghee, and all sorts of other excellent provisions, and he grew rapidly like a lotus in a lake. The boy was also faithful, with a good and virtuous mind, engaged in benefiting himself and others, greatly compassionate, magnanimous, fond of the Dharma, and loving to all beings. When he saw his father on the throne, engaging in actions both with and without fault, he was displeased and requested his father: "Father, please allow me to renounce and practice the excellent Dharma and Vinaya that you have taught." The father granted his request, and he shaved his hair and beard, donned colored robes, and with genuine faith, left his home and went forth into homelessness. Then, without receiving predictions, he realized the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, manifested the Bodhi of a Pratyekabuddha, and displayed various miracles in the sky for his father to see. After that, his father invited him for alms for three months. Then, he, with his physical body...

Being completely weary, he displayed various miracles, and like a fire that has consumed its wood, he passed into nirvana. This is his stupa. Then, the monks became doubtful, and in order to dispel all doubts, they asked the Buddha, the Bhagavan: "Venerable One, what kind of deeds did the Pratyekabuddha Ten-Headed One commit that he was not born from a mother's womb, but was born from a lotus?" The Bhagavan replied: "Monks, the Ten-Headed One himself, in other past lives, accumulated merit and possessed the complete conditions. Like a flood, he came and those deeds that would inevitably come without obstruction, he did and accumulated. Who else will experience the deeds done and accumulated by the Ten-Headed One himself? Monks, the deeds done and accumulated will not ripen in the external earth element, nor will they ripen in the water element, the fire element, or the wind element. The virtuous and non-virtuous deeds done and accumulated will only ripen in the aggregates, elements, and sense bases that are grasped. The deeds of sentient beings will not be exhausted even in hundreds of eons. When the causes and conditions come together and the time is ripe, the result will surely ripen. Monks, in the past, long ago, ninety-one eons ago, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Sugata, Knower of the World, Guide of those to be trained, Unsurpassed, Teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha Bhagavan named Vipashyin appeared in the world. Then, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Vipashyin resided in the royal palace called Kinsman. Then, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Vipashyin, in the early morning, put on his lower garment and Dharma robes, carried his bowl, and accompanied by the assembly of monks, with the Sangha of monks leading the way, went to the royal palace of Kinsman for alms. A caravan leader also entered the street carrying a lotus. Then, he saw the body of the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Vipashyin adorned with the thirty-two major marks of a great being, eighty

Having adorned it with exquisite ornaments, embellished it with a fathom-long radiance, possessing light surpassing a thousand suns, upon seeing the all-good, like a moving mountain of jewels, as soon as he saw it, he threw that lotus upon the Blessed One. As soon as he threw it, that lotus upon the Blessed One became as large as a chariot wheel. If the Blessed One departed, it would go; if he stood, it would stay. Then, after a while, the Perfectly and Fully Awakened Buddha, with perfect vision, prophesied that the caravan leader would attain self-awakening. Then, rejoicing and delighted, and exceedingly happy, he went to his own home. At that time, his wife was giving birth and was uttering cries of pain. He asked the servant girl, "What is that?" She told him the same. Then the caravan leader became unhappy and made a prayer: "May I never again be born in the womb of a mother in samsara." The Blessed One said: "Monks, what do you think? At that time, the one who was the caravan leader was the Pratyekabuddha with ten heads. Because of that root of virtue, he was never born in the womb of a mother for ninety-one kalpas, and even in his last existence, he had similar wealth. Monks, therefore, you should train yourselves thus: 'We shall honor and respect the Buddhas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Shravakas.' Monks, you should train yourselves thus." After the Blessed One had spoken thus, those monks rejoiced and praised what the Blessed One had said. 'Soft Complexion' means: The Buddha, the Blessed One, was honored by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, people of the palace retinue, merchants, caravan leaders, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas. They revered him as their teacher, made images of him, and made offerings to him. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who was offered to and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas, was endowed with great merit, possessing robes, food, and bedding.
