it will not appear. If you wish to predict that he will become a powerful Chakravartin, it will not appear in the palm of his left hand. If you wish to predict that he will become a Chakravartin, it will not appear in the palm of his right hand. If you wish to predict that he will be born as a god, it will not appear in his navel. If you wish to predict that he will attain the Bodhi of a Shravaka, it will not appear in his mouth. If you wish to predict that he will attain the Bodhi of a Pratyekabuddha, it will not appear in the hair between his eyebrows. If you wish to predict that he will attain the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Bodhi, it will not appear on the crown of his head. Then, those rays of light circumambulated the Blessed One three times and disappeared into the hair between the Blessed One's eyebrows. Then, the Venerable Ananda, with his palms joined, said to the Blessed One: "Various lights, interwoven with a thousand colors, have emerged from the door of your mouth, illuminating all directions, just as the rising sun does." He further requested in verse: "Free from noise, not fond of satiety, abandoning negligence, the Buddha is the sacred source of beings. The victorious conquerors of enemies do not easily show smiles like lotus roots and conch shells without cause or condition. Because you understand the timing with steadfast wisdom, please allow the monks, kings, and truth-seekers to dispel doubts about the supreme words of the teacher, and the doubts that arise in the virtuous. The protectors, as stable as the ocean and the mountain king, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas, do not smile without reason. For what reason does the hero show a smile? Please tell us, the ordinary people." The Blessed One said: "Ananda, it is indeed so, it is indeed so. Ananda, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Enlightened Buddhas, do not smile without cause or condition. Ananda, did you see this girl offer a golden wheel to the Tathagata?" "Venerable One, I saw it." "Ananda, this girl has perfected the roots of virtue, the generation of Bodhicitta, and the merit of giving.

By giving in this way, one will not fall into evil destinies for fifteen kalpas, experience the happiness of gods and humans, and become a Pratyekabuddha named Supreme Wheel. The Dharma to be given as alms is whatever makes my mind happy. Therefore, monks, you should train like this: respect the Buddhas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Shravakas. Monks, you should train like this. After the Blessed One spoke these words, the monks rejoiced and praised the words of the Blessed One. The one called "Ten Heads": Kings, great ministers, wealthy people, people of the palace retinue, merchants, captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas all revered the Buddha, the Blessed One, honored him as their teacher, made images of him, and made offerings to him. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who was worshipped and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas, possessed great merit and obtained robes, food, bedding, seats, medicine, and medical supplies, together with the Sangha of Shravakas. He traveled through the land of Magadha and went to the bank of the Ganges River. Then the monks saw from afar an old stupa that had been destroyed by wind and sun. Having seen it, they asked the Blessed One, "Venerable One, whose stupa is this?" The Blessed One replied, "It belongs to the Pratyekabuddha Ten Heads." The monks asked, "Blessed One, how did the Pratyekabuddha Ten Heads come to be? And how was he named?" The Blessed One replied, "Monks, do you want to hear how the Pratyekabuddha Ten Heads came to be and how he was named?" They replied, "Venerable One, we wish to hear." The Blessed One said, "Monks, then listen well and keep it in mind, and I will tell you. Monks, in the past, in a past time, in the city of Varanasi...

Once upon a time, there was a king named Brahma-datta. During his reign, the country was prosperous, flourishing, peaceful, and had good harvests. It was filled with people, and there was no strife, war, conflict, internal strife, thieves, famine, or disease. It abounded in rice, sugarcane, cattle, and buffalo. That king was a virtuous king who ruled according to the Dharma. Later, that king, desiring a son because he had none, prayed to Gu-lang, the water god, Kubera, Indra, Brahma, and other various deities, like this: He prayed to the garden god, the forest god, the crossroads god, the three-way intersection god, the god who receives torma, the co-born god, the god who is in accordance with the Dharma, and the gods who always follow behind. There is a saying in the world that sons and daughters are born through prayer, but that is not the case. If sons and daughters were born through prayer, then like a Chakravartin king, everyone should have a thousand sons. In reality, sons and daughters are born from the convergence of three conditions. What are these three? The parents' desire arises and they meet, the mother is in her fertile period and has menstruation, and a Gandharva arrives. It is from the convergence of these three conditions that sons and daughters are born. The king was still devoted to prayer. In his garden, there was a large pond filled with Utpala flowers, lotuses, water lilies, and white lotuses, adorned with various birds such as swans, ducks, and geese, making it very beautiful. In that pond, an extraordinarily large lotus suddenly grew. It grew rapidly day by day, but it never opened. Later, the garden guardian reported this to the king. The king ordered that the lotus be well guarded. Later, at a certain sunrise, the lotus opened, and in the center of the lotus, there was a boy with a handsome appearance, beautiful and attractive, with a golden complexion.
