By this act of giving the entire earth, may I realize the enlightenment of a Pratyekabuddha. Then, the Blessed One smiled. This is the nature of the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, when they smile. At that time, blue, yellow, red, and white rays of light emanated from his mouth, some going downwards, and some going upwards. Those that went downwards went to the hells of beings, such as the Reviving Hell, the Black Line Hell, the Crushing Hell, the Crying Hell, the Great Crying Hell, the Hot Hell, the Very Hot Hell, the Uninterrupted Hell, the Blistering Hell, the Bursting Blister Hell, the Chattering Teeth Hell, the "Kyi hud" Hell, the "A chu" Hell, the one that cracks like an Utpala flower, the one that cracks like a lotus flower, and the one that cracks like a great lotus flower. In all those hot hells for sentient beings, it became cool and descended. In all those cold hells for sentient beings, it became warm and descended. Thus, the specific sufferings of those sentient beings were pacified. Then, they thought to themselves, "Have we died and transmigrated from here, or have we been born elsewhere?" Then, in order to generate faith in them, the Blessed One emanated a manifestation. When they saw the manifestation, they thought to themselves, "Surely we have not died and transmigrated from here, nor have we been born elsewhere. However, by the power of this unprecedented appearance of a sentient being, our specific sufferings have been pacified." Then, they developed great joy in the manifestation, and thus the karma that would cause them to experience the hells of sentient beings was exhausted, and they would take rebirth among gods and humans, wherever they would be suitable vessels for the truths. Those that went upwards went to the retinues of the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-three, the Strifeless, the Joyful, the Delightful Emanating, the Controlling Others' Emanations, the Brahma retinue, the Brahma Assistants, the Great Brahma, the Minor Light, the Immeasurable Light, the Clear Light, the Minor Virtue, the Immeasurable Virtue, the Universal Virtue, the Clou

And to the fortunate ones, and to those with great fruits, and to the great ones, and to humans, and to the splendid ones, and to the extremely visible ones, going to the gods of Akanishta, proclaiming the sound of impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness. Two verses are also recited: Be sure to initiate renunciation, be joined to the Buddha's teachings, like an elephant destroying a reed house, destroy the army of the Lord of Death. Whoever in this Dharma and Discipline, acts with diligence, having completely abandoned the cycle of birth, will cause suffering to cease. Thus it is recited. Then, those rays of light circled the three thousand great thousand worlds, following after the Blessed One himself. If the Blessed One wished to prophesy past deeds, then they would not appear on the Blessed One's back. If he wished to prophesy future deeds, then they would not appear in front. If he wished to prophesy that beings would be born in hell, then they would not appear on the soles of his feet. If he wished to prophesy that they would be born as animals, then they would not appear on the heels of his feet. If he wished to prophesy that they would be born as pretas, then they would not appear on his toes. If he wished to prophesy that they would be born as humans, then they would not appear on his two knees. If he wished to prophesy that they would become a wheel-turning king of strength, then they would not appear on the palm of his left hand. If he wished to prophesy that they would become a wheel-turning king, then they would not appear on the palm of his right hand. If he wished to prophesy that they would be born in the heavens, then they would not appear on his navel. If he wished to prophesy that they would attain the Bodhi of a Hearer, then they would not appear on his face. If he wished to prophesy that they would attain the Bodhi of a Pratyekabuddha, then they would not appear on the hair between his eyebrows. If he wished to prophesy that they would attain the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Bodhi, then they would not appear on the crown of his head. Then, those rays of light circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and then disappeared into the hair between the Blessed One's eyebrows. Then

The venerable Ānanda, with his palms joined, said to the Bhagavan: "The various things produced by a thousand colors, have arisen from many mouths, which illuminate all directions, just as the rising sun does." Again, he asked in verse: "Free from turmoil and not fond of satiety, those who have abandoned, the Buddha is the supreme cause of beings, the victorious subduers of enemies, without cause or reason, do not show a smile, with steadfast wisdom knowing the opportune time, practitioners, kings, and those who seek silence by listening, I pray that the best of the tamers, with firm and wonderful words, dispel the doubts of the virtuous. Like the ocean and the king of mountains, the steadfast protectors, the fully enlightened Buddhas, do not usually show a smile, for whose sake, does the hero show a smile, for them, most beings want to hear from you." The Bhagavan said: "Ānanda, it is so, it is so. Ānanda, the Tathāgatas, the worthy, the perfectly enlightened ones, do not smile without cause or reason. Ānanda, have you seen the respect this girl has shown me?" "Venerable one, I have seen it." "Ānanda, this girl, with the roots of virtue, the generation of the mind [of enlightenment], and the complete giving of the Dharma of generosity, will become a Pratyekabuddha named Fragrant Emanation in the future. Her Dharma of generosity is this: she has generated faith and joy in me. Monks, therefore, you should train yourselves in this way: you should respect the Buddhas, the Pratyekabuddhas, and the Śrāvakas. Monks, you should train yourselves in this way." After the Bhagavan had spoken thus, the monks rejoiced and greatly praised what the Bhagavan had said. Called the Immaculate One, the kings and the Bhagavan, the great ministers and the rich and the people of the royal palace and the merchants and the captains and the gods and the nāgas and the yakshas and the asuras and the garudas and the kinnaras
