He correctly taught with the words of Dharma, caused them to correctly understand, correctly praised, and correctly rejoiced. King Ajatashatru, sitting on the upper floor, also saw the Blessed One being worshiped in such a way in the Jivaka's Mango Grove. Having seen this, he felt remorse and gained great faith. The people of the palace residing in Rajagriha, having also gained the power of Dharma, went to the king and said: Alas, great king, even those who enjoy heavenly bliss and live without wives have abandoned the heavenly realms and are making offerings to the Blessed One. The people of the palace residing in Rajagriha will ultimately be defeated. It would be better to abolish this divine law. Then, King Ajatashatru abolished that law and proclaimed in the city around the royal palace: Pay homage to the Blessed One as you please. Then, the people of the palace residing in Rajagriha, together with their retinues, were joyful, content, and exceedingly happy. They rejoiced and felt joy and happiness. They carried flowers, incense, and garlands and went to see the Blessed One. Then, the gods and humans paid great homage to the Blessed One. The Blessed One also, from that basis, taught the Dharma to the gods and humans in such a way that they would realize the Four Noble Truths. Having heard this, many gods and humans realized the truth. Then, the monks, having seen the offerings made to the Blessed One, became doubtful and asked the Buddha, the Blessed One, who cuts off all doubts: Venerable One, it is wonderful that such a great celebration is held in the teachings of the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Monks, the Tathagata himself, in other past lives, has accumulated merit and possessed the conditions for accomplishment. Like crossing a torrent, he has done and accumulated deeds that will inevitably occur and will not fail. Who else will experience those deeds that I have done and accumulated? Monks, the deeds that have been done and accumulated will not ripen in the external realm of earth.

Transforms. It will not mature into the water element, the fire element, and the wind element, but the good and non-good deeds that have been done and accumulated will only mature into the aggregates, elements, and sources that have been taken. The deeds of sentient beings, even for hundreds of kalpas, will not be exhausted. When they gather and the time comes, they will ripen into fruit. Monks, in the past, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Gone to Bliss, the Knower of the World, the Tamer of Beings, the Unsurpassed One, the Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, named Jewel Mountain, appeared in the world. He traveled through the country and came to a royal palace. An epidemic broke out near that royal palace. Then, that king, in order to pacify the epidemic, invited the Bhagavan and his monastic community of hearers, and for three months, offered them umbrellas. After three months, the epidemic subsided. After that, the king and the people of the city who had developed faith held a festival every five years for the Tathagata and his monastic community of hearers. Here it is said: Ananda, when I was king, for the great and bright Jewel Mountain, I prayed because I wanted peace, and held a festival every five years. Monks, what do you think? Who was the king at that time? It was me. I held a festival every five years for the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Jewel Mountain, and through the maturation of that deed, I experienced great happiness in samsara, and now that I have become a Tathagata, I have also received such respect. Even after I have completely passed into nirvana, countless festivals will be held every five years in my teachings. Monks, therefore, you should train like this: respect the teacher, honor him as the guru, make images, and make offerings. Respect the teacher, honor him as the guru, make images, and make offerings, and then abide by relying on him. Monks, you should train like this.

Oh! Having spoken thus, the Blessed One, the monks rejoiced and praised the words of the Blessed One. The fifth volume of the hundred parables, such as the story of the Candala, is called Praise. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was honored by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, palace attendants, merchants, captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas. They revered him, made him their teacher, painted his image, and made offerings. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who was worshipped and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas, possessed great merit and obtained robes, food, bedding, cushions, medicine, and medical supplies. Together with the Sangha of Shravakas, he resided in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, in the garden of Anathapindika. At that time, there were about five hundred musicians in Shravasti who were close friends. At that time, a new king of musicians named Rabadga came, and his power was such that he knew how to produce seven tones from one string and twenty-one different fingerings. He declared that six great cities were not important regions and then went to Shravasti. In Shravasti, the musicians who lived there reported to the king. The king said: I know this, do not be discouraged. Then, the king of musicians, Rabadga, thought to himself: King Prasenajit is very skilled in music, I should compete with him. Then, the king of musicians, Rabadga, went to where King Prasenajit of Kosala was, and upon arriving, he said to King Prasenajit of Kosala: King, I have heard that you are very proficient in music. If you don't mind, I would like to challenge you. Then, King Prasenajit looked at him and said: Okay, my skill
