then it will not appear in the navel. If you wish to prophesy rebirth as a god, then it will not appear in the navel. If you wish to prophesy the enlightenment of a Shravaka, then it will not appear in the face. If you wish to prophesy the enlightenment of a Pratyekabuddha, then it will not appear in the hair between the eyebrows. If you wish to prophesy the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, then it will not appear on the crown of the head. Then, those rays of light circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and then disappeared into the crown of the Blessed One's head. Then, the venerable Ananda, with his palms joined, asked the Blessed One: "A variety of colors mingled with a thousand hues, many have emerged from the gate of your mouth, it illuminates all directions, just like the rising sun." Again, he asked in verse: "Free from frivolity, not delighting in gluttony, having abandoned (these), the Buddha is the supreme cause for beings. The victorious conquerors of enemies do not show a smile like the lotus root and the color of a conch shell without cause or condition. Since the Steadfast One knows the opportune time with his own mind, the virtuous ascetics, kings, and those seeking peace desire that the supreme speech of the Sage, the best of men, be firm and dispel the doubts that arise in the good ones. The protectors, the perfect Buddhas, who are as steadfast as the ocean and the king of mountains, do not usually smile easily. For what reason does the hero show a smile? Most people wish to hear it from you." The Blessed One said: "Ananda, it is so, it is so. Ananda, the Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas do not smile without cause or condition. Ananda, have you seen this lazy boy showing such respect to me?" "Venerable One, I have seen it." "Ananda, this lazy boy, with the root of virtue, the generation of the mind of enlightenment, and the complete giving of the Dharma to be given, will perfectly accomplish enlightenment in three countless eons, perfectly accomplish the six perfections completely embraced by great compassion, and possess strength.

Ten powers, four fearlessnesses, three unmixed mindfulness establishments, and the power, diligence, might, and great abundance of the perfectly complete Buddha endowed with great compassion, will become, will appear in the world. His Dharma to be given is this that makes me very happy. After the Blessed One spoke thus, those monks rejoiced and greatly praised what the Blessed One had said. The Hundred Parables of Gangpo, etc., Volume Two, entitled "The Captain," is: The Buddha, the Blessed One, was honored by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, people of the palace retinue, merchants, captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and great belly-walkers, respected as a teacher, made images, and made offerings. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who is worshiped and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and great belly-walkers, possessed great merit, and obtained robes, food, bedding, cushions, medicine, and medical supplies. Together with the Shravaka Sangha, he was dwelling in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, in Shravasti, a great captain's ship sank in the great ocean. After coming out, he prayed to all the gods two or three times, and entered the great ocean, but the ship still sank and he came out again. Then he felt great displeasure and thought, "By what means shall I accumulate wealth? What means is there?" Again he thought, "The Buddha, the Blessed One, is far more excellent than all the gods, engaged in benefiting himself and benefiting others, is a compassionate great being, respects the Dharma, and pleases beings. Now I will rely on him and enter the great ocean again.

After the matter was successfully completed, he returned and thought to offer half of his wealth to him. After he worked hard like that, he entered the great ocean again, and by the power of the Buddha, he reached the island of jewels. After collecting a large amount of jewels, he returned to his home safely and without any trouble. After he rested, he overturned the container, and when he saw the various kinds of jewels, he developed great attachment. He thought: How can I give half of these jewels to the ascetic Gautama? Then he thought: Instead, I will sell these things to my wife for a quarter of their value, and then use the money to offer incense to the Blessed One, that will definitely be fine. He bought Agarwood incense with a quarter of the money, and then went to King Victorious Prince's garden. Then, very ashamed, he hid by the door and burned Agarwood incense. Then, the Blessed One, by the power of his incense, caused the fragrance to rise into the sky, pervading all those present, gathering like a huge cloud, manifesting such a miraculous transformation. When he saw that very wonderful miracle that made gods and men believe, he felt great joy. He restrained his mind and thought: It is not right for me to deceive the Blessed One with jewels. Then, the captain invited the Blessed One and the Sangha of Hearers to his home for a meal. Then, he satisfied them with delicious food and offered a large amount of jewels. Those jewels were like this: by the power of the Buddhas and the power of the gods, they rose into the sky above the head of the Blessed One, and became jewel houses and multi-storied buildings, with jewel victory banners, in a way that even a craftsman or a well-trained apprentice of a craftsman could not do. Then, the captain, seeing that miracle, was especially happy, and like a tree cut from its roots, he prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One and made a prayer: May I, through this root of virtue, generation of the mind, and the Dharma of giving, completely abandon
