I, free from famine and diseases, possessed rice, sugarcane, cattle, and buffaloes. Without harm, I ruled the kingdom like caring for an only child after removing a thorn. After that, when his son succeeded to the throne, during the spring season, in the forest where trees blossomed with flowers and swans, purple ducks, peacocks, parrots, squirrels, cuckoos, and mynas chirped, he was served by the sons of ministers, playing and enjoying themselves with great joy. One of his friends, a minister's son, played dice with another gambler, and the minister's son was defeated by that person by five hundred kārṣāpaṇas. The king's son also guaranteed for him, but he was powerful and thought, 'I am the king's son,' so he did not pay. Monks, what do you think? At that time, the one who became the king's son was me. The minister's son was the householder Anāthapiṇḍada. The gambler was this very Brahmin. Because I guaranteed for him, but he thought, 'I am the king's son,' so he did not pay the kārṣāpaṇas to the gambler, therefore I experienced endless poverty in samsara, and now even when I have attained complete perfect enlightenment, he is still collecting this debt. Monks, therefore, actions that are definitely dark will definitely have dark results. Actions that are definitely white will definitely have white results. Mixed actions will have mixed results. Monks, therefore, abandon actions that are definitely dark and mixed, and focus only on actions that are definitely white. Strive to abandon taking what is not given, and ensure that you monks do not commit such faults; you should train yourselves in this way. The Blessed One spoke thus, and the monks rejoiced and praised the words of the Blessed One. The hundred parables about Gambo and others, the tenth volume, called 'Excellent Goodness,' is dedicated to the Buddha, the Blessed One.

Then, when the Blessed One was just about to pass into complete nirvana, he spoke to the Venerable Ananda, saying: Ananda, the Tathagata will pass into complete nirvana in the realm of nirvana without remainder of aggregates tonight at midnight. Prepare a bed for the Tathagata between the twin Sala trees, and turn the pillow towards the north. Then, the monk replied, "As you say, Blessed One." Ananda, having heard the Blessed One's teaching, prepared a bed between the twin Sala trees, turned the pillow towards the north, and then went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, bowed to the Blessed One's feet with his head, and then sat to one side. Having sat to one side, the Venerable Ananda said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, the Tathagata's bed has been prepared between the twin Sala trees, and the pillow has been turned towards the north. Then, the Blessed One went to where the bed was, and having arrived, lay down on his right side, with his feet together, possessing the perception of light and mindfulness and, clear awareness, thinking only of entering into peace. At that time, there lived in the city of Kushinagara a wandering ascetic named Subhadra, who was old and frail, having lived for one hundred and twenty years, and the Mallas residing in the city of Kushinagara revered him, respected him,

He made offerings and regarded him as an Arhat. Then, the wanderer Rabzang heard that the ascetic Gautama would completely pass into Nirvana in the realm of Nirvana without residue of aggregates at midnight tonight. He thought to himself, "I have doubts and uncertainties about the dharmas. I also have the hope that Gautama can dispel my doubts." As soon as he heard this, he went to the city of Kushinagar and went to the twin Sala grove. At that time, the venerable Ananda was walking back and forth in the open space outside the monastery, and the wanderer Rabzang saw him. Seeing the venerable Ananda from afar, he went to where the venerable Ananda was, and after arriving, he exchanged greetings with the venerable Ananda, conversed with various kinds of satisfying and joyful words, and then sat down on one side. After sitting down on one side, the wanderer Rabzang said to the venerable Ananda: "Ananda, I have heard that the ascetic Gautama will completely pass into Nirvana in the realm of Nirvana without residue of aggregates at midnight tonight. I have doubts and uncertainties about the dharmas, and I also have the hope that Gautama can dispel my doubts. Ananda, if you have no inconvenience and think that you can create an opportunity for me to ask and receive prophecies, I would like to go in and ask some questions." Ananda said, "Rabzang, the Blessed One is unwell, the Sugata is tired. Rabzang, please wait and do not disturb the Blessed One." The wanderer Rabzang said to the venerable Ananda two or three times, "Ananda, I have heard that the ascetic Gautama will completely pass into Nirvana in the realm of Nirvana without residue of aggregates at midnight tonight. I have doubts and uncertainties about the dharmas, and I also have the hope that Gautama can dispel my doubts. Ananda, if you have no inconvenience
