Endowed with the great merit of the departed, having obtained robes, food, bedding, seats, necessities for the sick, and medicinal supplies, together with the monastic community of hearers, residing in Jeta Grove, in the pleasure garden of Anathapindika in the grove of Prince Jeta. At that time, Anathapindika, according to custom, rose early in the morning and went to see the Blessed One, using his own handkerchief to sweep the Jeta Grove. Then, after some time, Anathapindika became busy with something. Then, the Blessed One, in order to show the place of merit to those sentient beings who desire merit, personally took a handkerchief and broom and swept the Jeta Grove. The great hearers Shariputra, Maudgalyayana, Kashyapa, Ananda, Rahula, and others also saw the Blessed One and joined in sweeping. Then, the Blessed One and the great hearers swept the Jeta Grove and went to the assembly hall, and sat on the seats prepared for the monastic community at lunchtime. After sitting down, the Blessed One addressed the monks, saying: "Monks, these five are the benefits of sweeping. What are the five? Namely: one's own mind becomes joyful, others' minds become joyful, the gods are pleased, the roots of virtue such as becoming beautiful, and after death, being born among the gods in the happy realm of the heavens." Then, Anathapindika also went in that direction, and he heard that the Blessed One was sweeping the Jeta Grove together with the great hearers, and he thought to himself: "How should I go to the place where the Blessed One is sweeping together with the great hearers?" Then, Anathapindika, with a very shy and ashamed mind, stayed in that place. The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, ask knowing full well, the Blessed One said to the monks: "Who is this?" Then, the monks

He reported: Venerable Anathapindika, with a mind of great reverence and shame towards the Blessed One, thought thus: The Blessed One is cleaning together with the great Sravaka disciples, cleaning the Jeta Grove, stepping on it with his feet, it is not appropriate to go before the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One said to him: Householder, the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, respect the Dharma, and the teacher of the Arhats is the Dharma, so recite the Buddha's teachings and come in! Then, Anathapindika spoke in verses and went before the Blessed One, prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One, and sat before him to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One correctly taught with the words of Dharma, made him correctly understand, correctly praised, and correctly rejoiced. Then, the Blessed One correctly taught with various kinds of Dharma words, made him correctly understand, correctly praised, and correctly rejoiced, and then left from before the Blessed One. Then, the monks became doubtful, and in order to dispel all doubts, they reported to the Buddha, the Blessed One: Venerable Blessed One, having respect and reverence for the Dharma, only speaking of the merits of the Dharma, it is truly rare! The Blessed One said: Monks, now the Tathagata has been freed from desire, hatred, and ignorance, as well as birth, old age, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, displeasure, and turmoil, completely liberated, is omniscient, all-knowing, and has attained mastery over all wisdom and objects of knowledge. At this time, having respect and reverence for the Dharma, only speaking of the merits of the Dharma, what is so strange about this? In the past, when I had not yet been freed from desire, hatred, and ignorance, as well as birth, old age, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, displeasure, and turmoil, I also completely gave up my life for the sake of the Dharma.

That which I have done, listen well and carefully, and keep it in mind, and I will tell it. Bhikshus, in the past, in a bygone era, in the city of Varanasi, there was a king named Brahma-datta who ruled as king. During his reign, there was wealth, prosperity, peace, good harvests, people and many filled the land, disputes and fights were pacified, riots and internal strife, thieves and famine, and diseases were absent, and there was an abundance of rice, sugarcane, cattle, and buffalo. There was no harm, thorns were cleared away, and he ruled the kingdom as if caring for an only child. That king was also full of faith, virtuous, and with good intentions, engaged in what was beneficial to himself and others, greatly compassionate, of great self, desiring the Dharma, loving beings, giving all things, completely giving away all things, giving away without attachment, abiding in great generosity. Then, one day, he played and rejoiced with his queen. As he played and rejoiced with his queen, one day, that queen became pregnant and thought that she should listen to well-spoken words, so she informed the king. The king also summoned the diviners and spoke, and they also reported that it was the power of a divine being. Then, that king, in order to find someone who speaks well, took a hundred million gold coins and toured the towns, villages, regions, and around the king's palace, but he could not find that well-spoken person. After some time, when nine months were completed, a son was born, and the boy had a good figure, looked lovely and beautiful, had a good complexion, was golden in color, had a head like an umbrella, long arms, a broad forehead, a high nose, a beautiful nose, thick eyebrows, and all limbs and details were complete. When he was born, a birth celebration was held, and they decided what name to give the boy. The ministers said, "Before this boy was born, we were searching for well-spoken words, therefore, let this boy's name be 'Searching for Well-Spoken Words'." So, they named him 'Searching for Well-Spoken Words'. After that, the boy 'Searching for Well-Spoken Words'
