I, honored by merchants and captains, gods and nagas, yakshas and asuras, garudas and kinnaras, and mahoragas. As a guru, as a ritual, as an offering, the Blessed One Buddha, endowed with great merit, who is worshiped and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas, obtained robes, food, bedding, cushions, medicine, and medicinal supplies. Together with the Sangha of Shravakas, he resided in the Kalanda Grove of the Radiant Garden in Rajagriha. At that time, from Rajagriha, a captain entered the great ocean. His wife, who was in her prime, longed for her family and cried out in utter despair, but her family did not return. She prostrated to the son of No Craving (Shariputra) and vowed: If my family returns quickly, I will offer you a golden wheel. Then, her family quickly returned from the great ocean, safe and sound. Then, she had a golden wheel made, and surrounded by a group of maids, she took the wheel, incense, fumigation, and flowers to the temple.

Having accomplished, abiding in the six things of permanence, rich in the flowers of the seven branches of enlightenment, teaching the eightfold path, skilled in the nine successive absorptions, possessing the power of the ten strengths, universally increasing fame in the ten directions, those who are even more excellent than those who rule over the hundredfold tenfold, according to the Dharma, three times during the day and three times during the night, observe the world with the eye of the Buddha: Who is declining? Who is prospering? Who is living in poverty? Who has become miserable? Who possesses harm? Who is poor, miserable, and possesses harm? Who is inclined towards the evil realms? Who is falling into the evil realms? Who has already fallen into the evil realms? Who shall I rescue from the evil realms and place in the heavenly realms, liberation, and fruition? Who shall I pull up from sinking in the mire of desire? Who, from not having the seven noble riches, shall I cause to possess the dominion of the seven noble riches? Who, from not having generated roots of virtue, shall I cause to generate? Who, from having already generated roots of virtue, shall I cause to fully mature? Who, from having already fully matured, shall I cause to be liberated? Such wise contemplation arises in the mind. Here it is said: The ocean is the abode of aquatic creatures, the waves of time may cease, but for the sons to be tamed, the Buddha will not miss the opportunity. Then, the Blessed One thought: If that daughter sees me, she will generate the root of virtue of self-born enlightenment. Then, the Blessed One, in the early morning, put on the lower garment and Dharma robes, held the alms bowl, attended by the assembly of monks, with the monastic community of monks leading the way, went to Rajagriha for alms. Then, that daughter saw the Buddha, the Blessed One, whose body was perfectly adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great being, beautified by the eighty minor marks, adorned with a fathom of light, possessing light surpassing a thousand suns, all good like a moving jewel mountain. Then, upon seeing, she immediately obtained joy and threw a golden wheel at the Blessed One. Then, the maidservant stopped her, saying: This is not the son of non-greed.

Just as they wished with strong faith, they threw golden wheels upon the Buddha Shakyamuni. They also offered incense, fragrant smoke, and flowers. Then, the Blessed One smiled. This is the nature of all Buddhas and Blessed Ones when they smile. At that time, blue, yellow, red, and white rays of light emanated from his mouth, some going downwards and some going upwards. Those that went downwards entered the hells of sentient beings, namely, the Reviving Hell, the Black Line Hell, the Crushing Hell, the Howling Hell, the Great Howling Hell, the Hot Hell, the Very Hot Hell, the Uninterrupted Hell, the Blistering Hell, the Bursting Blister Hell, the So Tham Thams Hell, the Kyi Hud Zer Hell, the A Chu Zer Hell, the hells that cracked open like উৎপল (utpala, blue lotus), the hells that cracked open like lotuses, and the hells that cracked open like great lotuses. In those hot hells of sentient beings, they became cool and descended. In those cold hells of sentient beings, they became warm and descended. Then, the differences in suffering of those sentient beings were all pacified. Then, they thought to themselves, 'Alas! Have we died and transmigrated from here, or have we been reborn elsewhere?' Then, in order to generate faith in them, the Blessed One manifested emanations. Seeing the emanations, they thought to themselves, 'Alas! We have neither died and transmigrated from here, nor have we been reborn elsewhere, yet, through the power of this unprecedented appearance of sentient beings, the differences in our suffering have been pacified.' Then, they rejoiced in the emanations, and thus, the karma that would cause them to experience the suffering of hells was exhausted. Among gods and humans, wherever they were fit to be vessels of truth, they would take rebirth there. Those that went upwards reached the retinues of the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-three, the Free from Strife, the Joyful, the Delighting in Emanation, the Controlling Others' Emanations, the Brahma hosts, the Attendants of Brahma, the Great Brahma, the Minor Light, the Immeasurable Light, the Clear Light, the Minor Virtue, and so on.
