The Blessed One sent a message to King Prasenajit, saying: "Great King, please allow this man to go forth into homelessness under the Blessed One." King Prasenajit of Kosala, recognizing that it was very appropriate, granted permission. The Blessed One ordained him and conferred upon him the full ordination of a bhikkhu. Through diligence, practice, and effort, he realized that this wheel of the five-eyed cycle of existence was wavering and unstable. He thoroughly understood that all conditioned phenomena are of the nature of decay, decline, dissolution, and destruction, and having abandoned all defilements, he directly realized the state of an Arhat. The Arhat, having become free from attachment to the three realms, possessed a mind of equanimity, regarding gold and rubble as equal, the sky and the palm of the hand as indistinguishable, having become as cool as sandalwood soaked in water, having shattered the shell of ignorance with wisdom, having attained wisdom, supernormal powers, and individual perfect knowledge, having turned his back on the gains, attachments, and honors of craving, he became an object of worship, remembrance, and reverence by the gods, including those with power and attendants. Then, the bhikkhus arose with doubts and inquired of the Buddha, the Blessed One, who cuts off all doubts: "Venerable One, it is wonderful that the Blessed One accomplishes everything merely by intention!" The Blessed One said: "Bhikkhus, the Tathagata himself, in other lifetimes, accumulated merit and possessed the conditions for accomplishment, and because he did and accumulated those deeds that are certain to occur and unavoidable, like crossing a river, how could the deeds that I have done and accumulated be experienced by someone else? Bhikkhus, the deeds that have been done and accumulated will not ripen in the external element of earth, nor will they ripen in the element of water, fire, or wind. The virtuous and non-virtuous deeds that have been done and accumulated will only ripen in the aggregates, elements, and sense bases that are grasped. The deeds of sentient beings will not be lost even for hundreds of eons. When the conditions gather and the time arrives, they will ripen into their own fruit. Bhikkhus, in the past, in a bygone era, the Tathagata...

Thus the Blessed One, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Sugata, the knower of the world, the guide of beings to be tamed, the unsurpassed, the teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One, named Dhvajendra, appeared in the world. He traveled and went to a certain royal city, where there was a Brahmin in that royal city, who had mastered the Vedas and the branches of the Vedas, and lived in the royal city. Then the perfectly enlightened Buddha Dhvajendra, in the early morning, wearing his lower garment and Dharma robes, carrying his bowl, went to that city for alms. Then the Brahmin saw the perfectly enlightened Buddha Dhvajendra, whose body was well adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great man, beautified by the eighty minor marks, adorned with a fathom of light, possessing light surpassing a thousand suns, like a moving mountain of jewels, all good and beautiful. Having seen him, as if a tree had been cut from its roots, he prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One and said: "Blessed One, I am worthy of receiving the supreme. Sugata, I am worthy of receiving the supreme, Blessed One, where do you reside?" Then, for the sake of benefiting him, the Blessed One, the perfectly enlightened Buddha Dhvajendra, resided there. After the perfectly enlightened Buddha Dhvajendra resided there, the Brahmin praised him with a hundred verses. He also offered fine food and made a prayer for unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Based on this, the king, ministers, and people of the city all developed faith. Monks, what do you think? At that time, the Brahmin was me. Because I made offerings to the perfectly enlightened Buddha Dhvajendra, I experienced infinite happiness in samsara, and now all my thoughts and desires are fulfilled. Monks, therefore, you should train like this: respect the teacher, regard him as the supreme teacher, regard him as an image, make offerings to him, the teacher.

Were respected, regarded as teachers, depicted, offered to, and relied upon to dwell. Monks, you should train yourselves in this way. After the Blessed One had spoken thus, those monks rejoiced and praised what the Blessed One had said. The so-called "Kashika garment" refers to the fact that the Buddha, the Blessed One, was respected by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, palace attendants, merchants, captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and great belly-crawlers; regarded as teachers; depicted; and offered to. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who was offered to and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and great belly-crawlers, possessed great merit and obtained robes, food, bedding, cushions, medicines for the sick, and medicinal supplies. Together with the monastic community of hearers, he resided in the Bamboo Grove at Rajagriha. When King Bimbisara, together with countless attendants and retinue, realized the truth, then, in order to show repaying the kindness of those who had benefited him, to establish the custom of offering to the Buddha, to show the spaciousness of the household, and to show the preciousness of the Buddha's appearance, the Blessed One, together with the monastic community of hearers, was invited to the courtyard of the royal palace. Then, instructing the attendants of the Magadha royal palace: When the Blessed One goes to the city, make offerings with flowers, garlands, incense, and perfumes. All the cities of Rajagriha should be cleared of stones, gravel, and broken tiles. Scatter various flowers and raise banners and flags. All the roads from the Bamboo Grove to Rajagriha should be covered with cloth. The ministers also carried out everything accordingly. Then, King Bimbisara himself held an eight-spoked umbrella over the head of the Blessed One with his own hands.
