Having circled the realm of reliance, followed the Blessed One's footsteps. If the Blessed One wished to prophesy past actions, then it would not appear on the Blessed One's robe. If he wished to prophesy future actions, then it would not appear in front. If he wished to prophesy that beings would be born in hell, then it would not appear on the soles of his feet. If he wished to prophesy that they would be born as animals, then it would not appear on the heels of his feet. If he wished to prophesy that they would be born as pretas, then it would not appear on his toes. If he wished to prophesy that they would be born as humans, then it would not appear on his two knees. If he wished to prophesy that they would become powerful wheel-turning kings, then it would not appear on the palm of his left hand. If he wished to prophesy that they would become wheel-turning kings, then it would not appear on the palm of his right hand. If he wished to prophesy that they would be born in the heavens, then it would not appear on his navel. If he wished to prophesy that they would attain the enlightenment of a Hearer, then it would not appear on his face. If he wished to prophesy that they would attain the enlightenment of a Pratyekabuddha, then it would not appear on the hair between his eyebrows. If he wished to prophesy that they would attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, then it would not appear on the crown of his head. Then those rays of light circled the Blessed One three times and disappeared into the hair between the Blessed One's eyebrows. Then the venerable Ananda, with his palms joined, addressed the Blessed One: "Various lights, interwoven with a thousand colors, have emerged from your mouth, illuminating all directions, just as the sun rises. " He further requested in verse: "Free from clamor, not delighting in greed, abandoning distraction, the Buddha is the supreme source for beings. The victorious conquerors of enemies, without cause or condition, do not show a smile like the stem of a lotus or the color of a conch shell. With steadfast wisdom, you know the opportune time, monks, victorious kings, seekers of knowledge, please dispel the doubts that have arisen in the minds of the virtuous with the supreme and steadfast words of the Teacher.

Like a stable mountain king, The protectors, the complete Buddhas, do not easily show a smile. For what reason does the hero show a smile? It is because of you that most people desire to hear. The Blessed One said: Ananda, it is just so. It is just so, Ananda, the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas, do not smile without a cause or reason. Ananda, have you seen these musicians showing me such respect? Venerable one, I have seen it. Ananda, these musicians, by completely giving up the roots of virtue, the mind of enlightenment, and the Dharma of giving, will, in due time, perfectly accomplish the enlightenment of a Pratyekabuddha, and in the future, they will become Pratyekabuddhas named Melodious Sound, loving the poor and afflicted, living in remote places, and becoming the sole objects of offering in the world. This is their joy in the intention to give. Then, the monks became doubtful, and in order to cut off all doubts, they asked the Buddha, the Blessed One: Venerable one, by what roots of virtue did they achieve such power? The Blessed One said: Monks, the Tathagata himself, in other past lives, accumulated merits and possessed the complete conditions, emerging like a dam, and those actions that would inevitably come to pass were done and accumulated. Who else would experience the actions I have done and accumulated? Monks, the actions done and accumulated will not ripen in the external earth element, nor will they ripen in the water element, fire element, or wind element. The virtuous and non-virtuous actions done and accumulated will only ripen in the aggregates, realms, and sources that are grasped. The actions of sentient beings, Even for a hundred eons, will not be lost. When gathered and the time has come, They will ripen into their own fruit. Monks, in the past, there was a Tathagata, an Arhat, a perfectly enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, a Sugata,

What is the basis, O wise one? The guide of those to be tamed, the unsurpassed one, the teacher of gods and humans. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, named Realized, appeared in the world, and after traveling around, he went to a royal palace retinue. Then, in the king's garden, there was a place where fruits were abundant in all seasons. The Bhagavan went to that garden, and for the benefit of the king, he stayed and resided under a tree. Then, he sat on a spread seat and entered the fire element samadhi. Then, the king of the Kshatriya caste, who had been crowned from the crown of his head, went to the garden with the sound of women's cymbals and musical instruments. Then, as the king wandered and walked in that garden, he saw the Bhagavan, the perfectly complete Buddha, Realized, beautiful and joyful, with subdued senses, a peaceful mind, an extremely gentle and completely peaceful mind, shining like a golden stupa. Having seen this, the king became joyful, and together with the retinue of queens, he played various kinds of cymbals, requesting the Bhagavan to rise from that meditation. He also offered delicious food and made aspirations to attain the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Monks, what do you think? The king at that time was me. Because I had made offerings to the perfectly complete Buddha, Realized, now the musicians are showing me such reverence. Monks, therefore, you should train like this: you should respect the teacher, you should regard him as a guru, you should regard him as an image, you should make offerings. Having respected the teacher, regarded him as a guru, regarded him as an image, and made offerings, you should rely on him and abide. Monks, you should train like this. After the Bhagavan had spoken thus, the monks rejoiced and praised the words of the Bhagavan. The supreme giving is to the Buddha, the Bhagavan, to kings and great ministers, to the wealthy, and to the people of the royal palace retinue.
